Well that is one downside of being in the military, even for the US. Your body is no longer your own.

Vaccine ready for people in only 4-5 months. Is that a new record?
1. How safe is it? might be okay for young soldiers in good medical shape, how about for old people with conditions.
2. Even if it is safe, is it effective.
3. Even if it is effective , what level of protection does it have 30%, 70% 100%
4. How long will it take to get approval for the general public?

Stay tuned!!

And how long will the vaccine last. Will it be like a flu vaccine that you get every year that only protects from the "best guess" version of that year? Will it cost $3120.00 like Remdesivir of Gilead Sciences is considering? https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19-drug-remdesivir-to-cost-3-120-for-typical-patient-11593428402 Will insurance like Medicare or Medicade cover the cost?

Cheers!

Still find this encouraging news, even with all the unanswered questions.
With the 2 million "volunteers" there should be good data available pretty soon.

Given recent history, I doubt I'm the only one who would be somewhat skeptical of any data resulting from any vaccine trials performed in China, so I'm neutral on this news and any outcome.

And no matter which country it was, a trial on a sample that is almost exclusively younger men, won't tell us much about efficacy and risks for other segments of the population.

Agreed, though US provider orders may not receive "priority" if the vaccine is successful...

Covid19 "Ad5-nCoV Vaccine Description"

Ad5-nCoV Vaccine Description
Ad5-nCoV is the first novel coronavirus vaccine for COVID-19 in a clinical trial in China. The vaccine candidate is built upon CanSinoBIO’s adenovirus-based viral vector vaccine technology platform. The Ad5-nCoV vaccine candidate is a genetically engineered vaccine candidate with the replication-defective adenovirus type 5 as the vector to express SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

The new Ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine evaluated in the phase 1 trial is the first to be tested in humans. It uses a weakened common cold virus (adenovirus, which infects human cells readily but is incapable of causing disease) to deliver genetic material that codes for the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein to the cells. These cells then produce the spike protein and travel to the lymph nodes where the immune system creates antibodies that will recognize that spike protein and fight off the coronavirus.

On May 16, 2020, Health Canada approved human clinical trials for possible coronavirus vaccine.

On May 22, 2020, the Ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine was reported in a study to be tolerable and immunogenic at 28 days post-vaccination. Humoral responses against SARS-CoV-2 peaked at day 28 post-vaccination in healthy adults, and rapid specific T-cell responses were noted from day 14 post-vaccination. Our findings suggest that the Ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine warrants further investigation.

On June 29, 2020, media sources reported China's military has received the 'greenlight to use a COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by its research unit and CanSino Biologics after clinical trials proved it was safe and somewhat efficient.'
