maybe a charcoal grill too if you can get the heat high enough

Interesting pizza crust, Al. We're not eating grains anymore so I might give it a try. We recently brought some squash and zucchini in from the garden that are about 5" in diameter (need to check the crop more often with all this rain). We sliced them up, sauteed them for a short while to soften them a bit, then put the pizza toppings on them and baked them a little. Fabulous! I was surprised at how well they turned out. I've decided that if you put a good sauce, cheese, and pepperoni on anything it's pretty much a pizza.

Congrats gsparks2! I got an email from work that they're giving away my office furniture first come first served. That's a good sign. I'll be a part time cube rat from now on. Renewed my drivers license and license plates in 20 minutes at the DMV. I'm impressed with their timeliness these days. Only had to take the eye exam. Now I have time to squeeze in a boat ride before DW gets home.

Woke up and checked the sky as soon as my eyes would focus. Jumped out of bed to go photograph an area while it was still in shade. Took about 40 images then continued on to my favorite place in the tourist district for breakfast. The youngest waitress likes to practice her English. As usual, I was more than happy to oblige. Finished the Bangkok Post because I'm of the age where a leisurely breakfast just isn't right without a paper. Never thought I'd think a breakfast just wasn't right without vegmite on buttered toast, but this nearly old dog learns new tricks.

Reviewed and sorted the new photos at home. As usual the 'boneyard' had too many, the 'keepers' pile had one (and I was feeling charitable to have put it there) and the 'ok' folder had a few. Then time evaporated while I edited some images.

Put on some sunscreen, picked up a novel and road the scooter 1 mile to the beach. Bought some water, found a beach chair that would remain in the shade for the next two hours. Read, enjoyed the breeze, thought about tomorrow and watched kiteboarders, dogs playing, people walking and other shade seekers claim beach chairs then order drinks.

Couple hours later went home. More time evaporated while learning more about photo editing. Watched an episode of a downloaded TV show, did some chores then got cleaned up for the evening. Dinner, 8-ball and hanging out completed the day.

Enjoying a "day off" - practice for ER is how I view all of these! Booked vacation travel, considering showering & "really getting up"...will transfer our first batch of home brewed beer into the secondary fermenter (keg), maybe putz around in the garden...

Arranged some auto transfers for HSA, cleaned out car, readying to go visit daughter and grandkids and go to the beach. Surprisingly, DS-15yo got up early and cleaned the kitchen then living room and is now busily doing laundry. Good boy! DS-8yo is being a pain. Like father like son, I guess.

A whale and her calf got into the Klamath river a month ago. The calf has gone out to sea, but the mom has been feeding right around the bridge. We went up to take a look today.

Got to go for a ride in a 1916 Cadillac. The last time I saw the car was in 1967 when it had been sitting in a barn for 43 years now it's working again. The pics are from 1967 and today.

It is a nice old brick Victorian, we were looking for a good backdrop for the photos and found the house. Had never met the home owner, when we asked if we could use it for a backdrop he told us to drive the car up on the lawn.

A few days ago I went through my change jug and kept some state quarters and other 'valuable' coins. Today I completed my state quarter project...finally. Went through my box with the special coins holding silver dimes, wheat pennies and tokens from various Las Vegas casinos.

I also have money from Canada, Pakistan, Germany and Mexico. The Mexican coin is dated 1942. I have no idea how I got the coins from Germany and Mexico.

Woke up this morning to find a bear had snatched all the hummingbird feeders, and stomped the trash can. The bear tried to get the wild birdseed container open but couldn't, so it was just rolled it out on the yard. I feel for all the critters the 223000 acre fire in May and June behind the homestead, didn't leave a lot for them to eat. Oh where were the dogs, in the house, we had been to a party, they were out of it.

Today I am doing what I must repeat for the next 60 weekends. I am busy running around doing all of the chores necessary before I head off to work on Monday. Trying to catch up on the laundry, buying groceries, doing a little gardening, cleaning, and try to squeeze in a little reading.

I love to read about everyone already enjoying their retirement, not caring what day of the week it is. No longer experiencing that Sunday night dread, and sleepless night thinking about the upcoming workweek.

I can't wait to join all of you, congratulations and cheers!
