DW and I went to the state DPS today to renew our driver's licenses. Both run out this month and no online renewal is granted
. We arrive at the Mega - DPS location in north Houston this afternoon where there are no less than 300 people waiting for services. But we are prepared with "online appointments" generated by the DPS website. We feel honored to be so privileged!
We get to a desk and the lady sees DW is sporting an oxygen concentrator and has two hose ends stuck up her nose. Oh my, you are special! We get super tickets with special numbers on them and go find a chair (which there are none open). A nice Oriental couple volunteer their seats and I let DW sit while I stand with the DH of the offering couple.
About 30 minutes pass and DW's number is called (earlier than the appointment time) and she's off!!
Since I was handed a special ticket (I was DW's escort of sorts), my number get's called too.
Hey, this is all good, except for the angry stares from 300 people who have been waiting for hours in front of us.
I pass the eye test and get my renewal with flying colors!!
DW, not so much as the "oxygen tube in the nose" giveaway requires her to take a driving test (next week). She is not thrilled. Parallel parking must be done to pass!
One the way home, DW says if she can't pass the driving test (and parallel park), I will be her chauffer for LIFE!
(I said the DPS will just keep rescheduling the test until you do pass....(I hope)
