Do you thank/acknowledge original emails/calls from friends/acquaintances?

Everyone in my family and also my friends have a smartphone. I will answer the phone if it is someone I know. I think email is like a big junk mail sorter so it is generally ignored (unless I am expecting something).

I don't have a smartphone,( horrid, expensive rural service,) but even with a dumb phone that's how I screen my calls.

I sometimes do, sometimes don't reply to emails or texts or letters if the content doesn't seem to warrant one. I really don't notice if some has responded to me unless I had a question and then I would just follow it up with a phone call. Life is too sort to perceive insults or worry about other people's actions.

I wonder if young lovers save emails like I saved love letters from long ago beaus until I met DH, my last beau....
