What was/is your occupation?

If you think you have a difficult j*b, take a look at this excellent documentary about pilots (and mechanics) in Colombia.
I am not sure whether the gas barrels or the weight calculations were more disconcerting.

Still doing ordnance work for the USAF as a civilian, and still a reservist. I will retire in 5 years/1 month. I'm currently sending out resumes in hopes of landing a job with DCMA (Defense Contracting Management Agency) in a Quality Assurance field. Whether I get a job or not, I'll still retire in 5 yrs/1 month.

Updating my post from way back. I did get a job with the DCMA in 2008, and have now been employed with that fed govt. agency for 5 years now as a Quality Assurance Specialist, currently working surveiling a big defense contractor's electronics components for missile defense systems. I will be retiring at the end of this year (2013). Time to be a full-time loafer! :cool:

Of all my jobs, sports turf was the most rewarding. Golf courses were better for me than ball fields. I think it has something to do with the personalities of the people who use them. But if you treat the turf right, it will do what you want it to. {and it doesn't talk back}

I also did people's yards, starting when I was twelve, and ending three years ago when my BIL died. He was my last paying customer. {don't get paid for it anymore, but I still cut the yard at BIL's place. It now belongs to DW} I also cut 6 1/2 acres of front yard at my house, 1 1/2 acres at my old house plus a 1/2 acre family graveyard. If I ever get tight for money, I can always get back into the trade. Here in NW Florida, the grass grows about nine months out of the year.

Edit: Tried to go back and edit my first post. Too late. I had forgot about working a year in the grass seed business. I ran the drying, cleaning, inspecting and bagging operation while the owner and his son were in the field cutting and hauling the seed back to Blountstown. There is a lot of money to be made in grass seed. When I harvest my pines, I'm thinking about putting the land back in grass. I still have all my old hay equipment, so I could sell seeds and hay. This was about twenty four years ago, the year after the golf course job.
