Where are we going?

My first thought last nite was to respond, "Irrationality, it's like pornography, you know it when you see it." But that would be wrong, although my simple arbitration system uses the percentage system: Plato, 100% rational; the Bible, 99% rational if 'correctly' interpreted; TV commercials 10%-20% rational; politics 5% rational at this point in time. So, I'm back to my self-inflicted tautological world again. I do think it's important to 'parse out' the good and bad in each of our experiences (see the conspicuous consumption thread for some healthy examples).

Therefore, there is some agreement that we each judge rationality for ourselves? One person's crazy is another's sane?

Sort of, but communities come into play. I live in Southern California and when I get visitors from the mid west I take them to Venice. Its quite like what you see in movies, muscle builders, gals with snakes skating around, a general freak show. I reflect that half the people on the Venice beach boardwalk would be certifiable in Ohio.

So maybe Washington DC is the Venice Beach of politics?

My goodness, y'all see some serious happenings over the next 20 years! What were we doing twenty years in the past? Let's see, a George Bush was Vice President, we were flying something called a space shuttle into low orbit, fiddling around with the idea of a space station, the middle east was a mess, the administration was running up massive debt while cutting social programs....history doesn't repeat itself, but it can ryhme.

All this is useless guys. I want to know what the next Microsoft and Dell is now. Who cares what country we'll invade in 2025, they're a dime a dozen! :D
