36 years old: and delighted !!!

I just wrote a check for 95k to my wife for her birthday, paid off the house after 6 years , it felt like a tough mountain to climb and we paid off 250k so house is finally ours. I want to acknowledge all the folks on this forum for keeping me focused and helping me realize that nothing is impossible. The motivation you get being with and talking to like minded people is a big game changer. The next focus is to pay off the other 2 rental properties and call it quits or at least have that option.

Cheers

Nice work sir! I was so relieved when I found like-minded people on this ER forum. Everyone I talked to offline did not have a clue what it took to retire early. Everyone I know thinks people just work until 65 or later, I guess I don't really know what they think but god bless ER.org for filling in a massive void in my life. I have 300k to go on mortgage debt. Plan is 30k a year for the next 10 yrs.

Congratulations! And keep up the good work.

I, too, find this forum of like-minded folks very refreshing.

Outstanding!
I too was one that thought paying off a home as soon as I could would be good and it was my plan. I haven't had a house payment since I was 28 years old and stuck that once was payment into stocks and savings.

You have a beautiful home!

Nice job! And no Lambo in the garage, at least that we can see ;)

Hah nope , all our cars are Lexus or Toyota. I did sell the ISF and that helped pay the house off but the NSX will be mine one day but that’s after a while

Since 28 !! That’s a amazing and we got the house when the market crashed so that helped , now it’s worth almost 50% more

YEY! You have a lovely house for the price. We reject debt in every way possible. It makes things so much simpler. And now you have all that equity! Gotta love it!

How did you determine your wife is worth $95,000?

Congrats ... you are now House-Rich, but hopefully not Cash-poor :) But honestly, good job paying off the debt.

The paid off mortgage is the new status symbol! Congrats

Congrats man, ! Now the key is to take high risk for high return and make that $$$ growth. I am not special, I am making 120k per year the last 3 years and 85k last 15 years but manage to have almost 6.2 mil assets with ZERO debt and calling it quit at 50(summer 2019).I started out with zero $$ and had to learn English from scratch. I Love this country we call America.

That is great, it feels good to pay off that mortgage doesn't it? And you monthly cash flow will increase substantially!

Beautiful home too, what part of the country is it? Looks like California some place or Florida perhaps.. Where we live in Florida it would cost ~$500k - $600k if built of concrete.

Oh we are good , I always have a 1 year emergency fund stashed away. I have a few rentsl
Properties so I know I could get s better bang for the buck else where however it’s the peace of mind and the feeling of accomplishment that will really impress my wife since she can call it HER home now.
