Nice day in Seattle, with high clouds, sunshine and 50-60 degrees (depending on where you were). Took a 3 mile hike on Redmond's Education Hill and spotted these guys wandering the hiking paths.

Donated blood.
Cashed inheritance check.
Soon will go out to view 'supermoon'.

Do tell more, Khan!

~$1300 from a mutual fund.
She wanted to leave me something.
I have already given it away.
Don't think I'll be getting anything else.
Didn't expect to.

Worked a few hours in the Wrigleyville area - Cubs fans milling around looking anxious for the season to start. Performed beer research and lunched at the Goose Island brewery. Took DW shopping and showed her the supermoon.

Ooooooo...take good care of that eye....

Thanks - the eye is a little sore but seems to be ok

Spent the day catching up on e-mail, finances, the book's marketing, and the blog. Finally opened the box with the "like new" $35 Linksys dual-band wireless router, but I'll install it next week during a day when spouse is out of the house for a few hours.

"Supermoon" over here is currently obscured by "super rain". Our pet bunny ventured outside to sample the grasses in the mulch bed (under my wary escort) but got chased back inside by all that nasty wet stuff. We'll both have to try again around 2 AM.

Spouse and I are really looking forward to Monday when the rest of the world gets off the streets and goes back to work. We need to call the U.S. Postal Service to correct their errors on my Dad's forwarded mail request, drop off a set of window blinds for repairs, visit a Verizon store for a phone question, deposit a check, and, oh yeah, pick up the prescription items for next month's colonoscopy prep.

The "Supermoon" was fabulous last night. Yes, I howled at it. ;)
We woke up to yet another clear sunny day, with a nice temperature of 46F. :D
I am enjoying watching the snow continue to melt away in the front and back yard. We will still get some snow flurries here and there until mid May, but spring has truly arrived. :flowers:
Mr B has to attend a wake for a fellow Legionnaire, then go get some budget data for a project he is doing for the County Legion. So I have the house all to myself to do whatever strikes my fancy.
I plan to tape off the unstained trim around the new picture window. I can get that project going when I see two consecutive days of warm enough weather to open windows to vent away the stain fumes.
In the meantime, maybe I'll go out and deal with dog manure before it rains, i.e. sogginess can make that job a real joy. TMI?

I loved the Supermoon but it was a little disconcerting! I could see it in great detail, as though I still had the sharp eyes of youth. But it seemed too big and for some reason that made me feel uneasy. I *know* it isn't going to fall on us.... really, I do.

Yesterday during dinner my son saw something odd running across a neighbor's lawn and into our yard. It was already 7:45 PM and starting to get dark but we all saw it. It was a LARGE bird, definitely not a hawk as we see those all the time here. Looked like a turkey but I've only seen those in a grocery store meat case!

It was walking and bobbing and eventually flew/jumped into a neighbor's large oak tree. We looked it up in a bird book and it really was a turkey. It sat there for a while but was gone this morning.

Not a great picture because it was getting dark.

Missed the Supermoon due to cloud cover here :( Stayed up really late with SO watching DVD's - we just didn't feel like going to sleep until 6am for some weird reason.

Just went outside and fixed minor damage to my short wave antenna from the strong gusts last night.

Now sitting at desk thinking about first cuppa joe of the day and listening to recording of US Psyops broadcast which was being jammed by the Libyans (I do a lot of listening to short wave radio).

That first cuppa coffee is going to taste sooo good!

We went out to a little Italian Place for dinner and then went to see David Brenner at the local comedy club . He was really funny but I was shocked by how he has aged . I looked it up and he is now 75 and still working . No early retirement for him ! I always wonder why actors ,actresses and even comedians don't retire . Haven't they made enough ?

For some people it's just not about the money.

I read one of his books and I remember he had a nasty divorce and lengthy custody battle. I looked it up and he talks about it here -

Comedy Land: David Brenner

About halfway down it begins with the question,

I know you had the custody fight that kept you out of the public eye for a while.

Yeah. Four and a half years.

There's more and the result was
Four and a half years later, I walked out with a crippled career, totally broke. I lost my townhouse, cars, everything I owned, but I walked out holding the hand of my son.

That sounds like that’s the important part.

Yeah. To hell with the other thing. And today I have this wonderful, wonderful son. I have three wonderful, wonderful, wonderful sons.

Couldn't see the supermoon because of clouds (in fact, it's rained almost every day for weeks here). Was it really noticeably bigger? If you hadn't heard about it would you have said "that moon is bigger than normal!"?

Most definitely larger. Enormous, in fact.
I watch the skies at night whenever it is clear and warm enough to do so. I skywatch when I let my dogs out and wait for them to take care of business. It is dark enough in my back yard to see the Milky Way Galaxy easily and sometimes a trace of the glow of Northern lights, even if they are faint.

They have no reason to retire.

The only comedian I can recall who quietly left the stage was Flip Wilson.

Yes. It was really big. Sometimes a harvest moon can look that big, I guess, but the difference was that the features of the supermoon appeared in much greater detail. It was startling, at least here. If I hadn't known about it, I probably would have said, "What is going on? Is the moon coming towards us?" Even though I knew about it, it was still a little unnerving.

Sue - It could have been a turkey buzzard, also known as turkey vulture. We have a bunch around here

I'm an earlybird today. I've been sleeping in a lot lately.
I woke up at 530 AM and decided to quit being a stay-in-bed slug.
The local weather radar loop display (Weather Channel) looks like an animated Peter Max poster. White (snow), pink (mix of snow/rain) and green (rain) intermixed and moving across the area at a good clip.
The Syracuse WIXT TV station's version of the radar loop is even more psychedelic.

I knew I should have taken care of picking up the dog manure yesterday instead of goofing off. Oh well.

Mr B is also up early and putting the finishing touches on a budget spreadsheet he created for an upcoming audit.
You can take the accountant out of the practice, but....:nonono:
He's only retired since May of last year. He'll get with it (no more w*rk) at some point. Maybe...

Went ice skating. Emptied, scrubbed, refilled hot tub. DW loves the sight of of man with scrub rush in hand, and using it.

I knew a guy in his late seventies. Old crooner. Only the singing kept him alive. And a few turns on the dance floor.

I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Don Rickles in 2005 live at a local casino. He has always been one of my favorites, right up there with Rodney Dangerfield.
He came onstage launching right into his trademark schtick, i.e. picking on the audience. No mercy as usual. :ROFLMAO: Razor edge wit. Wooooooooo
Then he changed gears and proceeded to sing some of the songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin. I was astonished by the quality of his voice. He added a little "soft shoe" to his act.
Then he went right back to pinging the audience, laughing like hell and saying things like "Ya didn't think I could still get to ya at my age, HAH! " What a riot!
He looked a bit older, had a bit of a paunch going on, but his stage energy was unbelievable. It was a performance I will always remember. :D
