Yesterday members of our church choir did a recording session at a professional studio fir pa project by one of our members who is studying to become a recording engineer. I got to sing in an acoustic booth with a professional microphone, wearing headphones to hear the accompaniment and other voices. Very interesting and really fun. It will be great to hear the entire recording (about 30 of us) after he's done all the editing and combining of the tracks.

Just had a cartoid ultrasound, (the doctor who administered it said that any issues/problems were insignificant), and a 25 minute brain MRI, the results of which will likely not be available until tomorrow.

I've had a regular upper body MRI, but this was like sticking your head in a metal bucket while someone practiced drumming on the outside.
I had a brain MRI done last week and the result was good. Hope you're as empty-headed as I am. :greetings10:

I also started my day with a cartiod ultrasound. I didn't learn my results but I did ask if I was okay to go jogging and the tech said sure. There were certainly differences between the left and right sides![emoji16]

Had a holter monitor installed too. I've had one event of dizziness since they turned it on. Hopefully I'll learn something from this. Sleeping with it will be a challenge.

This afternoon DW and I went to a different Mexican restaurant. We'd eaten there twice before and their food so hot it was like eating lava. Asked about some cooler options and it was pretty awesome.

We pressed 2 ton of Petite Syrah and 1 ton Cabernet at my buddy's winery; about 7 hours including cleanup. I had 2 glasses of Malbec and a hot sausage "sammich" in return; life is good.

Our main event for today was taking the dog for a walk around a public garden with some pretty mountain and lake views. Yesterday we saw a theatrical production of Rocky Horror Picture Show. That was a fun show - great sets and costumes, plus amazing singers and musicians. We bought a little goodie bag of props like Scott toilet paper to throw when they said Great Scott and a glow stick to wave at the line "there's a light".

Saw the doctor, aided by a Dutch translator, MRI indicated that everything was normal......BUT....I had a TIA and no one knows why.

Stay tuned.

Wonder if you didn't have a TIA? Other than slurring your words were any other diagnostics gathered?

Years ago I had a TGA(Transient Global Amnesia) and the EMTs insisted I'd had a stroke. I remember being horribly confused and knew something was really wrong. I don't know if I was slurring my words.

They took me to a level 1 trauma center that specializes in strokes and the doc told me he didn't think it was a stroke, a CT confirmed his thoughts.

There's a thread, on TGA's let me go look.

MRG:. All I had was the temporary slurred speech and a temporarily numb lip on the left side.

The hospital here was fantastic, as was the ship's doctor and nurses, (Yeah, Royal Caribbean); I underwent an entire battery of tests......they found nothing amiss, but now there's a mystery.

Numb doesn't sound like a TGA, I missed that. Glad you are getting good care.

Not to be a downer, but that can only last, at most, a few hours. You'd be better off with heavily insulated clothes.

I've always had those. Usually we only have < day outages. If there was a multi-day I could recharge from the car battery at night. I would be afraid to wear this to bed anyway. So far I'm on day 2 - about 5 hours yesterday but at all different temps and only High is effective. USB battery pack is down by half.

A real prepper would have a generator. I just bought a huuuuge battery to keep the cable modem and router going instead. Food in the fridge? It can rot. Priorities.

What with the ship and the hospital I've been poked and prodded so much that I anticipated being awarded "Best In Show".

That's the spirit ! :flowers:

Now, keep that tail up and don't make a mess on the floor...

Went to get a haircut, then the gym, followed by an appointment with the gastroenterologist. Oh boy, I get to have a colonoscopy next month! He doesn't like that some enzymes are high. Depending on results from that I might get an MRI and/or be scheduled to see a specialist in Baltimore.

Sigh. This "getting old" crap is wearing thin but I guess it's better than the alternative....

Nemo2, glad to hear that all seems to be well.

Nemo2, great to hear the good news! Pretty scary, though!

I go for my stress test tomorrow after wearing the heart monitor for 16 days. I hope this will confirm what type of SVT I may have.

It's just plain old age, the way I see it. :hide:

Happens to everybody, eventually.

I had a numb lip and slurred speech once - it was after a bar fight I was in while in the military. One guy had a broken jaw..

Nemo, what terrific news! Thanks for letting us know. Seems like the best possible outcome, and what a big relief it is to read this. :)

In other news...

Today I got my new hotsy-totsy Dell computer delivered, so I set it up and have been enjoying it, and I am typing on it right now. I didn't realize how TERRIFIC a 17" display could be for my 70-year-old eyes and I'd say this is my favorite thing about it so far.

Walt, my appreciation of the bigger laptop monitor must be part of that "getting old" thing you were talking about. It is wearing pretty thin for me, too. I remember when I was a kid, my mom had me thread needles for her and she always said I had such bright eyes (because I could do it). Now I finally *get* what she meant.

That said, I'm having fun fiddling with my new computer. I updated the bios and then installed approximately a billion Windows 10 updates, other software, and so on. I have most, though not all, of my settings and preferences worked out.

What a nice, cozy way to spend a rainy day. :D My idea of fun!

Always good to get things checked out and ruled out. Those naughty enzymes!

Yesterday our TV and Internet cable were out (our Internet often goes down but never the TV). Checking Comcast's website on my LTE, I saw a rare deal for existing customers that cuts our cost almost in half. We went to a Comcast store this morning where the rep (a) told me he doesn't operate like a used car salesman trying to get us to buy extra services and (b) scribbled his "deal" (not as good as the website offered) for us on a little piece of paper like a used car salesman would. Went back home and made the "deal" online instead.

Update: so frustrating. Had to call Comcast to make the online deal go through. Customer service reps don’t know what the website offers until the customer approves it and then they can see what it is—but not all of it. She assured me all is good but website not showing it. If this doesn’t actually go through we have ATT option. Grrr.

Got my flu shot and 2nd pneumonia shot. I thought I was on a waiting list for my second Shingrix shot at Costco, but when I checked yesterday, they said they tossed the list as no new stock is in sight. So, I got on the list for my local Fred Meyer (Kroger) and they bumped me 4 pages up the list because I need the second shot soon.

Pneumonia shot arm is sore, flu shot arm feels fine.

Went to the gym for the first time in a week, it was closed for maintenance last week. Nice to go back even if I'm wearing a holter monitor. Last night was my first night wearing it, this morning one lead had disconnected. The gal who put it in me said how easy it was to sleep with; her friend just put the monitor on her nightstand and slept with the wires connected. Well I don't sleep like a princess! Sometimes me, DW and two dogs swap sides and the ends of the bed during the night. It went better than I expected. Hopefully tonight is better yet. I have had two episodes of the dizziness they're trying to capture. Seriously don't think it's heart related but what do I know.

Enjoyed a nice rainy day, the local Mexican restaurant was packed.

I just finished entering in the prices of all option contracts into Quicken, which downloads prices of stocks and MFs, but not those of options.

I set a new personal high in the amount lost in a single day, but in dollar amount, not in percentage. Nor is it inflation adjusted. But it still hurts. Not quite a 6-figure, but mightily close.

And people still go out looking for ways to blow dough? I don't have to.
