Blow that Dough 2024

And bathrooms are just as expensive. We plan to redo our master bath, pull out large jetted tube, build a new larger walk-in shower, and change floors. Had one of the bathroom remodel places give us a quote. $20,000 and that's just for removing the tube and building a new shower. Not removing the old shower, that would be on us, or changing the floor. Didn't even include a glass enclosure, not even a shower rod for $20K.
We're still getting quotes.

We've used Hampton Inn's for years but since covid we find that they're more expensive and many need updating. So we started using Best Western's and have been pleasantly surprised at the quality. On our last trip back from the cabin we stayed twice at two different BW's and hit a promotion for one free night. We'll use that one for our stay in Raton, NM where the BW is higher than the others.

The hotel just outside our local airport changed hands and became a Best Western Plus which is a one of their lines. It’s very nice. We sometimes use it for early flights. I think we stayed at one other Best Western Plus and it was nice too.

I'm in the process of doing the same for DD's house (anniversary gift from me). Quotes should be in next week.

Yeah, I had sticker shock over that, too. I may have mentioned it earlier in this thread. Pull out and replace jetted tub (new tub non-jetted), re-do shower. Keep the flooring. I was thinking $15K and it was $30K. I'd pictured an HGTV-type "wet room" with all of it in one enclosure and a free-standing tub. Nope, that would be more. I've since read in a clickbait article that wet rooms aren't very practical- perpetually damp and mold-prone and it's hard to clean under/behind the tub.

I'm very happy with the results- it definitely needed refreshing-but wow.

Bathroom remodels are extremely expensive. After I got a quote I decided I would rather spend the money on other projects in my condo such as enclosing my balcony in glass with windows and screens.

My youngest son is handy so he gave me a new toilet, sink, faucet, lights, towel bars and mirror. I loved my stone countertop but the cabinet was ugly so I sanded and painted it with new knobs and it’s beautiful now. The floor has beautiful tile so I kept that. The bathroom looks great for a small price.

Got a package today and DW opened it. Inside shows a Sak's stamp. "When did we become Saks folks?" She said she saved me $70 on the shirt / sweater and she loved it...nuf said.

I'm the Sam's kinda guy, she's moving on up in the world apparently.

Lol!
It's only money, Right!

I remember when all the money in Vegas was made by the casinos.
Times have changed. I think I lost less than $20 to the casinos.

^^ That shoulda stayed in Las Vegas. :) Did that include a bottle of wine?
No wine, but 2 beers, 2 fancy drinks for DW, a nice steak, DW's scallops, and a dessert. It adds up fast.

Only place that I've ever been to that offers a choice of 4 or 5 steak knives to use on your steak.

Dang, I wish I could say that.

Thanks Ronstar I look forward to enjoying a meal like that. I too remember when the casino profits kept the food costs down.

Ah, yes. Remember the 99 cent shrimp cocktail you could get "downtown?" I think those days are long gone.

The last time I remember shrimp and a casino. it was on the river walk in Laughlin NV.
It was a bucket of shrimp for the same price as a pitcher of beer.

OMG!!! Lol!
That would give me heart burn. Good for you and your beautiful wife and what a way to BTD.

Anyway, I hope it was for you and your wife and not your girlfriend. Lol

Just razzing you some Ronstar. Lol

Razzing is ok street - yes it was with my wife. She likes expensive dinners - I'm ok with a burger and fries.

To make the BTD worse, we spent $300 to watch "Postcard from Earth" in the Sphere(worth it!), had another dinner in Arizona at $250 and spent over $900 in gas for the road trip. Oh and blew a bunch of dough on a Sphere view suite in the Venetian.

This alternated with other graphics all night long.

We’re currently at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort - nuff said.

It really beautiful Sonoran desert here. We’re surrounded by Saguaro Cactus, lol. Visited the Sonora Desert Museum this morning. The drive over Gates Pass Road was spectacular and the car drove the tight twisty road brilliantly by itself.

That is awesome!! Really is nice to be able to do such things and not have to be concerned about money. Thank You Ronstar!!

Spent 5k on a pair of earrings for the fiance's birthday. She does love jewelry.
