It would also be nice if the alleged feature that is supposed to embed YouTube videos in a post by simply copying and pasting the URL to the video from YouTube worked. That would also give us something to be thankful for this week. :greetings10:

Here is a post to test whether the link feature works.

A Financial Advisor who lost all of his clients' money.

And an animated clip about Thanksgiving

The first, I got to by clinking through a video in a CNBC article. The second, I got directly from YouTube. I note that when you click the first link, it does open up the video for you. I do not know why it does not auto-open like the second. We'll look into it.

^^^^ It doesn't seem to be working correctly. In my experience it has worked inconsistently. No idea why.

On my android both go to the video and both has visible descriptions in the link? [emoji111]

On my Win10, post#2277 has a one line link to the apology video, but a window of the animated clip of Thanksgiving as it should.

On my android phone both are the windows as they should be... as is my post #2272... a window with the forklift.

As Sargeant Schultz would say.... "Very interesting...".

it works... but the url that was included in an earlier post include extra code ( either from a search or a paid tracking tag to feature the video).

The url must be the base url with no additional tags or affiliate ID info. If the video owner has disabled redisplaying the video it also wil not work.

The first one uses a URL shortening version:
https: // youtu.be/ VNYNMM0hXXY
Note the "youtu.be" instead of "youtube.com"
This is similar to others like "goo.gl" etc.

The second one uses a traditional Youtube URL:
https: // www . youtube.c o m/watch?v=ociHVDWxDaY[/url]

Ignore the spaces -- I just put them in so they would appear without links.

I think I see a nuance of a difference. What I did is click on the video and and selected "Copy video URL" from the pop-up menu that appeared and then pasted that into the post. Doesn't work.

But if instead I go to the Chrome address bar and copy and paste the address for the YouTube page then it seems to work.

How does one acquire such knowledge?

Even if a video gets posted rather than just the URL, it’s still helpful imo to add a sentence or two telling us what’s in the video. Sometimes the video will show a collage of screens and we don’t know what it’s about and therefore may scroll on by without a comment to give us a hint. And thus may miss the most awesome video.

Can you imagine the initial thoughts of the warehouse manager that hears the commotion and then walks into the warehouse and sees the carnage? I hope nobody got hurt but it is hard to imagine that there were not any injuries.

Back when I was designing fire sprinkler systems warehouse owners would tell me to avoid in-rack sprinklers at all costs because the forklift operators were "demolition derby drivers."

I spent the day leisurely preparing some Thanksgiving dishes ahead of time, like pumpkin pie (with real pumpkin roasted yesterday) and fresh cranberry sauce. It's just DW and me, but I like to "do it up" a bit.

Did some woodworking/cleaned workshop, cut the grass, raked the leaves with my tow behind lawn sweeper, cleaned out the gutters, had a couple of beers while online listening to some Cat Stevens tunes, now waiting for the Chicago Blackhawks / Washington Capitals game to start.

Do you like your sweeper ? I assume it is for a garden tractor ?

Just thinking about getting DW one next year....:D

Yes - it’s a John Deere sweeper attached to a John Deere tractor. I like it. Could be better. Misses maybe 5-10 % of the leaves on the first pass especially in heavy leaf areas. So I take a 2nd Pass. Seems to work better when I have the mower engaged.

It’s a lot better than raking.

I used to have a sweeper but I found it filled up way too fast because it doesn't chop up the leaves. I replaced it with a vacuum that pulls off the mower discharge chute and blows the chopped leaves into a trailer. That worked great, except emptying the trailer was a bit of a chore. Now I mulch the leaves into the grass to the extent that I can.

Thanks to both of you. With +/- 2 acres of leaves now on the new property we've been looking at different options. DW loves her JD lawn tractor... I'm inclined just to mow them into the lawn, she'd rather collect them for a bonfire.

Mother Nature topped us both by dumping snow on top of them this year though..

So, we're planning ahead for next year.

We are celebrating T-Day a day late, having family over for a big lunch. Early this AM DW discovered she was short a few ingredients for what she was planning on cooking, and asked if I wouldn't mind running to the local Walmart. It's 13 miles away but our closest grocery, so I decided to put my big boy pants on and brave the early morning Black Friday crowd to buy some eggs and cream cheese. I needed to go to the PO anyhow to pick up an Amazon delivery that was too large to fit in our mailbox, so off I went.

When I entered the store about 8:30 AM and looked to see how long the check out lines were I was amazed - there were none. Only the self-checkout terminals and one (1) express check station was open, but no one was waiting in line. I have no idea what the place looked like when it opened at 6 AM (didn't ask) but when I got there the number of Walmart employees outnumbered the customers in the store.

Has Black Friday madness run its course?

Woke up to a gentle blanket of fresh snow. What a great sight. We didn't want to cook breakfast so off I go 3 miles to McDonald's. I've been taking each of our two dogs, on opposite days, so they are more comfortable traveling. Today was the female's day. She has great vision.

Seeing the fresh snow through her eyes was fun. She knew something was way different about this new world. I've seldom seen her that excited. The drive was interesting, they don't put anything on the local roads, and it shows. There were several near accidents, some person almost went over into a creek, about a 10' drop.

DW and I went to the gym and had Mexican for lunch. It was a good day. The dogs and I watched an amazing sunset tonight.
