We are in the midst of the Siberian Express. -5F early this morning and currently 5F. It is suppose to get down to -12F tonight and into the morning.
Hope they packed a lunch as well. Was 77 yesterday afternoon; 32 now, and headed lower, with frozen precip on the way. Hunkered down at home!56 yesterday, 26 today, snow forecast for Sunday. Saw that the Dallas Cowboys are packing arctic gear for their game in Chicago monday night
Sea surface temperatures across the central Pacific have not been consistently warm or cool since Spring 2012, and we expect this to continue at least through next spring. This means that neither El Niño nor La Niña is likely to influence the climate during the upcoming winter.
The freezing rain has started. They sent the kids home from school early this afternoon. We'll still have our Bible study at church tonight--half the guys that come drive four wheel drive pick-ups. We'll need more than a couple inches of snow to stop them.
Well snow won't stop a 4x4 pickup. Neither will ice, fact is they go very well on ice. Where they end up stopping, who knows. Be very careful.

One of the saving graces of winter. It is a consolation to me that next winter I won't have to stress about driving conditions as I will be retired. I can loll around the house in my pajamas all day if necessary until the roads are clear.

It's a mess here in my burb. A section of 'my' tree broke off from the ice...it was just 3 feet tall when I planted it in 2000. I feel like I've lost a friend. The other pic is on our street...there is damage to our neighbors trees as well.
