Sort-of good news. Had an appointment with the oncologist for the melanoma and I'm at stage IIA, which basically means "watch and wait". Hey, at least he didn't say "Get your affairs in order" so that's good.

So you have annual follow-ups now? Hope it's very slow growing. Good luck, and best wishes.

According to the surgeon, follow-ups are every three months for the foreseeable future. Fine by me!

Walt - good news on the pathology results. My brother had melenoma (a fairly big one - several inches across, required a skin graft)... Never recurred. After 5 years they called him "cured".

Today I went to the beach with the pooch.
Came home and changed into my swimsuit and went to my aquatic fitness class.
Came home and changed into jeans and went to go get the kids from school.

Now I'm getting ready to head out with younger son to a basketball game... He's sort of playing in 2 leagues... the coach is Mormon and has them doing their "practices" by playing LDS league in between the park and rec center games. More playing time is good. Tonight is the church league... tomorrow I'll be going to cheer him on at the rec center...

Went and spent the day at the cabin. This time of year I have to walk in because to much snow. It is one mile hike and the snow is deep. A rancher has a tractor tire track for the first quarter mile and I can use deer trails that lead me close to the shack. Got a nice fire going and took another hike then cam back eat lunch. I pull out a sled I had up there with my ice auger. I plan on going ice fishing tomorrow.

Needed to print a label to send an Amazon shippers snowblower chains back. They're way to big, maybe fit if I removed 40% of the links.

Printer is not printing properly and hasn't been. Try a clean to find its out of ink in a cartridge. I'd replaced one and cleaned, tested..... I am done buying ink for a printer that doesn't print.

Off to Walmart for the only printer they have here. It's a cheap Canon. When I get it home, it won't power on properly. Return to Walmart, since this is the only printer I'm going elsewhere. The nearby computer store had a great buy on an open box deal, only they couldn't make it work!

Came home and ordered a printer from Amazon so I could print a return label for Amazon.

I just bought ink cartridges at Costco for an HP printer. I looked across the isle at a new HP printer and it was close to the same price. I think I understand what HP's get-well plan is for their financial messes...

Walt, good news! Good luck with the checkups going forward!:)

DW has been pretty much house bound during the last two weeks with her COPD, which is bad this time of year.

Somehow, she fractured a bone in her spinal area and that has kept her off her feet. She had an MRI this morning and the Doc thinks an injection of a special glue into the fracture will help the repair. We have to talk more about that as I have never heard of a treatment like that.

Between the COPD, breathing treatments, O2 concentrator use and the back injury, she is really not doing well and I have been her loyal servant for the last two plus weeks.

Believe this is the procedure you were offered Vertebroplasty Procedure

aja888, Sorry to hear your wife is going through a rough spot . Hopefully she will get better .The flu and bronchitis this year have been brutal .

I'm going through the Konmari method of decluttering. Today I went through half a dozen storage boxes of books and whittled it down to only two boxes. Yesterday I went through my clothes and filled a trash bag to donate. I made a stack of all my paperwork to go through tomorrow. It's all been very cathartic.

Passed on the sushi bar and drove out to Modesto for dim sum instead.

Got home and walked the dog and welded up some steel brackets for my stove project.

Moemg, thanks, and it has been a rough winter here in south Texas. Just about everyone I know has been affected by the pollen allergies or flu.

Street, I like your visit to the cabin. Reminds me of my Father's farm that I use to go to. He bought it before he retired. It had a concrete block milk house that he gutted. Added a 1/2 bath, wood stove, refrigerator, small TV on an antenna, table and chairs. I liked to go there to read, nap, daydream, and hike. I would carry lunch and snacks. Loved that place. Relaxing and calming. Wish our family had kept it but it was never the same after he died. Another family member got it and I didn't have access to it. He finally sold it. Great memories there!

I need to do this but when I get started, it's hard to throw stuff away or donate it. What do you do with speakers that cost $1,000? Even old magazines are hard to toss. I need to do this soon since we may be moving. I know that if I haven't used it in a year, I need to toss it but easier said than done for me!

Aren't you lucky to have caught it as early as you did--fingers crossed for uneventful routine checkups!

I'm having that issue with my extensive DVD collection. I've spent all morning so far looking at external hard drives, but is it really worth the long term replacement costs since hard drives at best only tend to last a few years? Why this is a concern when I don't even watch the DVDs I have because streaming is the luxury that's spoiled me forever now?

I spent some time yesterday learning how to make 3D models in the software program that I use for my CNC machine. I'm certainly not artistic and in some ways, a lot of what you are doing for the models is like doing a sculpture so not sure how I'll do with it. I use Aspire from Vectric to do the design and they have a large number of video tutorials and a very active user group to help you out. There is a massive number of models readily available as well to use for projects. Hope to get a few things cut so I can spend some time painting once I get some workshop time.

Walt34- good news on your medical update! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new helicopter. I have a few of these and always find them entertaining- started flying the .40 size glo fuel copters, I found it very hard to master. The new, smaller, electric versions are great with all the gyros and software stabilization.

This morning, I'm just back from my morning run to the hospital for daily (Mon-Fri) radiation treatment, day 5 of 28. Hospital is just over an hour away, treatment takes 10 minutes. Good news is that I have an early daily appt. so I can be back at home by 10am and have some day to work with. Chemo is once per week on Monday, two of seven done so on my way. I have Esophageal cancer, brought on my years of acid reflux. Feeling a bit stronger now as I had a period where I was unable to eat anything at all so have a feeding tube now which while a pain, is working as it should. I have also been able to eat small amounts of liquid and semi solids the last week or so so that helps with some variety. Surgery awaits once all the chemo/radiation is done. I now understand what I thought was my great job shedding some excess pounds last summer wasn't as healthy as I thought- I lost 40 pounds but have stabilized the drop now and will try to get 5-10 back.

Won't dwell on the day to day of this here on the forum but a few people have asked me what was going on so thought I'd post just to let those who wondered know where I'm at.

Vacationing in Hawaii. Drove to the summit of Haleakala for sunrise. Walked around a bit afterward. The effect of altitude was noticeable. Drove back to Kihei. Stayed out of the sun in the afternoon. Late afternoon beach swim then had dinner at the Hula Grill Barefoot Bar Ka'anapali. An hour wait for a table, so we watched the sunset over the beach while waiting, hoping to see a humpback whale.

Wow, I got off easy! (So far, anyway.) I do hope all goes well for you.

I wish everyone the best with their health issues. Like one guy told me getting old isn't for sissy's. Lol I wish all of you the best.
