Musicians you never saw in concert

For me, the big dead three....Jimi, Janet and Jim. Also Clapton and the Beatles (post Sgt. Pepper).

but, as mentioned earlier, have no desire to mortgage the house to finance tickets...

I've been to dozens of concerts including many of the big time acts, but there are a few that I haven't seen due to the prices for the tickets- Paul McCartney and the Eagles are two that come to mind.

We saw the Eagles with full band intact at MSG. The show was fantastic with them playing all their hits. However the resale tickets we bought were crazy priced.
Ah those were the days of free spending while working. :D

I have seen Santana (my first concert), Styx, America, Stephen Stills, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Donna Summer (DW), Kenny Loggins, Don Henley, Doobie Brothers, Phil Collins, The Who (25th anniv), Jimmy Buffett (6), Sting (row 3), Sheryl Crow (backstage VIP pass), The Police, James Taylor (2), Billy Joel (Wrigley Field).

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Bands I wish I’d seen The Beatles (I was too young), Led Zeppelin, Queen, Radiohead, Everclear and many others...

Van Morrison.

Last time he was in Toronto the seats began at $250 and went upwards quickly. I didn't go but heard afterwards it was terrible. Apparently his live shows are pretty bad now.

I really wish I’d caught Pink Floyd!

Me too, but do go see Brit Floyd. I've been several times and will go again.

I am so glad I saw the Eagles before Glen died. Saw them again the first tour after and it was not as good.

U2 was the concert that got cancelled on me, not Pink Floyd. I was just thinking that I really don't care to see concerts where especially the singer is way past his prime, and that was probably Pink Floyd by then, but U2 was still pretty strong. Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder are two who specifically come to mind like that. I don't even want to hear them for free anymore. I never was a Stevie fan, but I can listen to old Beatles and Wings recordings all day.

I feel the same if they have lost enough of their singing voice. Love the Beatles but would not pay to see Paul now.
Saw Elton John past his prime and he couldn't hit any of the high notes.

I wished I had seen Duke Ellington. Just the wrong time or place to have seen him. Also the original Eagles before the deaths of the two leads.

I’m sure Don Henley will be shocked to hear of his demise... [emoji15]

The Beatles (did see Harrison in ‘74 and McCartney in ‘92)
The Allman Bros. Band (original line-up; saw them six times or so otherwise...)
Jimi Hendrix

Have pretty much stopped doing classic rock shows; would rather remember acts at their prime...

Glen Campbell, George Harrison and Roy Clark. My biggest regret is not being able to see my girl Janis Joplin .

I saw her for you—a short show in College Park Md I believe where she had to be helped off the stage within 30 minutes. Still soooo glad I saw her.

My best friend, who bought the Janis tickets, also got us tickets to see the Beatles. Unfortunately my family took us on our every-four-years vacation, to the grandparents that week. I never forgave them.

Elvis
Beatles

Elvis had a concert at the U of O when I was there, wish I would have attended, but it was over Thanksgiving break.

I did find a YouTube video of the Pink Floyd Pulse tour - 1994, I think. And it sounds fantastic on our stereo, so I at least have that!

My absolute top rock concert experience was seeing Queen in 1977. Went all the way up to Forth Worth with some fellow diehard Queen fans to see it. I’ve always been so glad I didn’t miss seeing them, especially with Freddie Mercury becoming ill later.

I would love LOVE to have seen the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel, and Fleetwood Mac (after Rumors).

Edit: And Queen!

The Beatles remain my favorite band of all time, but the last time I heard Paul sing on TV his voice was very weak on some songs (I think it was the Corden show?). He needs to stop, or at least quit some songs, before he harms his legacy IMHO.

Thank you Souschef for the links. While most links were the studio version the one for Funeral for a Friend / Tonight was a video from the show, or the same tour at least. Elton played the first half of the show alone, and at that song the backdrop lifted and the very animated Ray Cooper joined in. It appears the final link actually is a full audio of the concert - listening now. Thanks again for the trip down memory lane.

I had the chance to see Led Zeppelin in 1976 but at the time I really wasn't that interested. I wish I had.

If you like the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac and don’t already own these, the DVD’s of their live shows are amazing. We love watching the Eagles “Hell Freezes Over” and Fleetwood Mac’s “The Dance.” We’ve seen both of these bands live too, but watching these shows in the comfort of our living room is hard to beat.

Elton John is another who is hard to listen to now.

But if it weren’t for all those aging rockers who still like to tour, my brother probably wouldn’t be nearly as busy.

Paul is doing something in his old age that he has had a passion for since he was a little boy--and is still selling out HUGE concerts at major venues and putting on quality shows. (A pal saw him perform the last time McCartney was in the area and raved about the show.) It's not like he's on the C-grade concert circuit playing at your local Indian casino. It would take quite a hit to harm his legendary legacy in my eyes. BTW: I've seen Paul three times, Ringo about six times, and George Harrison in Seattle in 1974 (I took photos of that latter concert).

I regret never seeing Billy Joel in concert. I have always liked him. When I lived in California I'm sure I had the opportunity to see him, but I was too busy working and trying to survive, and I never thought about it. The reason I like him is because his music is diverse, and he sings about songs I can relate to, even if only on a small scale.

I read about concerts in Europe, or Eastern Europe when a big name comes into the area, so many people just do whatever they can to make it to the concert because no one knows if they will ever get a chance to see that big name again. I kind of feel like that now as I would have to drive to either Salt Lake City or Las Vegas to even have a prayer of seeing a big name.

Billy Joel plays in NYC quite a bit I think and plays less in other parts of the U.S., and I have not given up on seeing him yet, even though it's going to be tough as I will have to go out of my way to ever make it happen. So is there an artist or artists that you have never seen and would like to? Why have you never seen them? Is there anything you plan to do about it? I am curious if anyone has any thoughts on this.

I went to his concert in Austin, TX in 1978, I think. It was in a huge venue and I enjoyed it very much. My roommate in college was a huge Billy Joel fan and she drove us from San Antonio for the concert.

I always wanted to go see Elton John before he developed his "old man" voice.
