Kind of the opposite of what's the greatest invention, this thread is more a wish something never was invented. Do you have an invention in mind that you wish never was?

What comes first to my mind is the more popular today roundabouts in traffic.

I think roundabouts a perfect example of either you love them or hate them. I know the purpose of them is to keep traffic flowing without stop signs or stop lights. To me, they are just confusing with too much multi-tasking and guesswork involved. Maybe one day the light will turn on and I'll get to like them. But as of yet, I'm still in the dark :(.

K Cups.......Just another needless way to fill up landfills.

I'll vote for that one.

-1 on roundabouts. An important consequence of their design is that collisions are substantially reduced and those that occur involve less energy, hence less harm to drivers and passengers. That said, I find some of the designs to be confusing.

I don't wish roundabouts were never invented but I do wish drivers wouldn't treat the yield signs like stop signs

And make very mediocre coffee.
Just want to point out that you can brew using Keurig with your own ground coffee, not a throw away cup. And the coffee we brew is very good IMO, far from mediocre. Of course we’re using our beans of choice freshly ground.

Leaf blowers...

I can only think of the Orange Circle in my area of Southern California.
I grew up and learned to drive in the UK in the 70's where they're all over the place. They're so efficient at keeping the traffic moving smoothly and even when we were back in 2015 my son in law picked up the concept immediately although he blew straight through the first one without even slowing down, I hadn't thought to tell him about them until it was to late.

Roundabouts used as traffic calming devices in neighborhoods. One I drive just about every day is big enough that you don't even need to slow down and people race through it as if it wasn't there. The other one that comes to mind is so small it's ridiculous.

Laser pointers.

Too many idiots out there misusing them.

1) Social media and any other type of website that allows people to be "influencers".

2) Smart phones.

Tip and charity prompts at credit card machines
Twitter and Facebook
24 hour news
Clickbait headlines
Billboards (nothing makes an area look trashier)
Golden Parachutes for failed CEOs

All of the above....

And home improvement shows....they make you feel like you need a new everything and make it look way easier than doing it yourself for the first time.

With roundabouts, I confess that I'm a work in progress.

I got honked at in recently. I'm 100% it was my fault not understanding how those darn things work. When I mentioned how confusing they are in a conversation, a niece mentioned, when you are in the inner circle, you have the right of way. Upon, listening I'm thinking "What? There is an inner circle?" :(

I can look at youtube and drink to kool-aid and see the concept. But when in the fog of driving in one, there seems so much going on an one time. Anticipation, leap of faith that not going to smash into someone or get smashed, in the meantime signaling and finding which exit to use while drifting in a circle. Makes my head spin just thinking about them.

Disposable diapers.

Yes, I know cloth ones create a lot more work rinsing, soaking, washing/drying.
Bit my kids never had diaper rashes when we used them, the ones I bought for #1 kid lasted through #2.
Plus make wonderful cloth rags afterwards.
And now they have cute snap cloth covers instead of the silly elastic plastic ones.

I bought my DD a month of newborn diaper service when DGS was born. She tried them one day and then used them only for burp cloths!
I get that disposable ones are more handy, especially when out of the house, and daycare requires them, but they are spendy and don't degrade very well.
