Please mark me done as well! 31 years, same company...done at 50. I may do some part time contracting in the fall, but I said definitely part time and definitely after the summer (I can't go back for 6 months anyway), but the deal still has to be right for me as I (fortunately) don't need to work at this point!
Bought a boat and a slip in Grand Haven, MI for the summer and rented a condo in Cancun for Jan/Feb so far!
I’m done! Packed up the office yesterday and turned in my keys.
My BF conspired with our next door neighbors and surprised me with balloons, champagne and an impromptu cookout out back last night.
There was dancing, laughing, and tears as we reflected on the last year.
All four of us are fully vaxxed and it was really great to hug them for the first time in over a year...
Brighter days ahead!
entered my retirement life today.
I slipped one day for some extra medical insurance, but here I am, at the finish line! Everything turned in and shut down. To the links!
I just completed the 4th week of the 8 weeks notice I gave my mega corp, so I’m halfway to freedom! In hindsight I wish I’d given only a month’s notice. They haven’t hired a replacement yet so by the time they’re hired we won’t have much, if any, time to transition.
My best to all of you in your journey.
Retirement started 4/1/21! Will be going back part time to let key staff take time off until my replacement is up to speed. Also, will be helping with year end and audit wrap up, BUT, on my terms! Thought I would sleep in more, but I am so excited for the day to be ALL mine, that I wake up earlier than while working! Life is GREAT!
With all of the craziness of the past two weeks, I forgot to pop in here and make it official. As of last Friday, I am unemployed for the first time in a LOOOOONG time! It's been a great couple of days. It feels sort of like I'm on vacation, but with no extra email to check and no fretting about what I would find when I return to the office. So yay! Let the games begin
Giving my notice in 13 days and moving to Colorado in 34 days.
I will be offering to work remote until October. Wasn't planning on moving so soon but my wife is in the real estate business and an agent friend of hers brought us an unsolicited offer we couldn't refuse. Over market value, no contingencies and irregardless of appraisal. Crazy real estate market.
I will be spending many hours in these forums to calm my nerves. Very excited!
Dan
Congratulations!
I'm happy to add you to the list. What am I putting for your retirement date?
Already on the list. Thanks!
