Fidelity free Turbotax offer

Yes, you can still use Deluxe.

We have used it for plenty of stock and cap gains as well as mutual fund distributions dividends and interest. It handles foreign tax credit too if needed.

We also have dividends, interest, CDs, T-bills in taxable accounts. It can handle that stuff no problem. We don’t have state tax here.

I have two non-retirement accounts and over $4M in assets and I still can't get free turbotax.

Quick question for turbotax experts. I have always used deluxe since I haven't sold any funds or stocks in my taxable account. Even though I have started purchasing T-bills and CDs in my rollover account and hold to maturity, can I still use Deluxe? Taxable account has only dividend and interest income.

thanks,

Marc

What can I say? It is what she told me. Sorry if it doesn't work for you.

Thanks! Same message just showed up on my account!

I had contacted my rep last night and I just got an email that he put in a manual request as they have had IT issues.

FWIW,

I had the offer and downloaded the software in December. The offer then disappeared. Today on my summary page it says:

I was excited to see this thread, but disappointment soon hit when I realized we didn't qualify based on the size of DW's account. I'd rather be the person with $4M+ at Fidelity who didn't get the offer. It's posts like those where I question why I am here.

I also received the screenshot today, so I guess there really was a tech issue.

FYI — from Consumer Reports [Nov/Dec 2023, p.5]:

"In July a Congressional report brought to light a vast breach of personal privacy. Three popular online tax preparation companies — H&R Block, TaxAct and TaxSlayer — had for years been sharing information pulled from tens of millions of consumer tax returns with tech giants Meta (Facebook), Google, and others.

"The information shared included taxpayer incomes, refund amounts, and names of dependent children, plus scrambled versions of names, email addresses, phone numbers, and gender, which experts say could easily be unscrambled."

This is Jxxx Dxxx, Wealth Management Service Specialist, responding on behalf of Jxxx Dxxx's Team.

There is a message on your Fidelity.com main portfolio page that confirms you are eligible for this year's free TurboTax program. It also states that you will see it on the portfolio page by the end of January.

The offer will be available before the tax forms necessary to file are generated for your accounts. Please call when you are ready to file if the offer is still not showing available for you on the Fidelity.com portfolio page.

Please call me at 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx, ext. xxxxx, during business hours, or the Private Client Group at 1-800-544-5704, 24 x 7.

I apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience.

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to serve you. We value your business and appreciate the trust you place in us.

Sincerely,

Jxxxx Dxxxx

They should be doing more than issuing reports.

That should be something prosecuted, for the release of dependent children names and other personal information, whether scrambled or not.

Fidelity still has me on the lump of coal list. In spite of getting it free for many years.

I have used TT for years, but this year I am going with H&RB since I got it a lot cheaper than TT; given I have to pay for it vs getting it from Fidelity free.

Not all of us have $4M at Fidelity.

This is new. Let us know how it goes.

I bought TT Deluxe from Amazon on December 27. Downloaded and Installed on PC (with some degree of difficulty). I entered and saved the Name/Address boilerplate stuff. We're waiting for some 1099's in the mail.

But I never received my $10 Gift Card. Not by mail or credit to my Amazon Acct.

So I called Amazon Customer Service and a nice fellow name Nidish took action. He gave me a Credit of $44.99 on my Fido Credit Card and apologized profusely on behalf of Amazon.....Amazin'

Just received my first ever free offer from Fidelity...was able to receive TT premier and two states for free! I also downloaded the Amazon deal for $68 before I knew I would receive the Fidelity offer.

I contacted Amazon Customer Service via chat and they made an exception for me and refunded the $58 charge.

If you ordered through Amazon and then received the Fidelity offer...give it a try with Amazon they may refund you.

Nice. Nothing better than some unexpected money.

FWIW the Fido free Turbo Tax "Get Started " button is now activated on the Summary page.

This free offer, just reinstated, has no effect on Turbo Tax returns already in progress — at least not mine.
