Based on the success of the get-togethers in Southwest Florida, I thought about organizing a similar event in the Southwest Ohio region since I spend my summers near Dayton.

Would anyone in that area be interested? You could be an ER member, lurker, Spouse/SO, friend, or just someone who would like to join us.

Please respond here to indicate your interest. Also, please indicate:
* Whether you would prefer June or early September.
* Where you would be coming from.
* Whether you prefer a weekday or weekend.

We'll pick a location based on the geographic spread of those who respond. Meeting at 2 pm seems to work well, between the lunch rush and the dinner rush.

If there is enough interest, I'll create another post closer to the more popular month to pick a specific date.

Either June or early September work for me.
I have no preference between weekdays or weekends.

Lewis Clark and I talked about this. We both attended the SW FL get together. I also think it would be fun to get some SW OH area members together.

[* Whether you would prefer June or early September.] No preference for me
[* Where you would be coming from.] I'm NE Cincinnati suburbs area
[* Whether you prefer a weekday or weekend.] No preference for me

Would consider either.

I would attend.

I would be interested . I'm open to time and location ,coming from Cincy

Would consider either.

Would come from Detroit. Might prefer weekend for traffic, but also might combine with the Armstrong Museum and Wright-Pat so stay overnight, and the day would not matter.

The National Museum of the USAF at Wright-Pat is a great museum. Allow at least half a day to see the highlights.

  • June if a weekend (see below) -- otherwise no preference.
  • Would be coming from Detroit area.
  • Would prefer a weekday (weekends tend to get booked)

Thanks for organizing!
I have heard good things about Omni's SW FL gatherings.

Well ... I did say that was just for the highlights. : )

That's OK. The museum is arranged in discrete sections, so you can pick one that interests you and spend a nice half a day exploring it.

Certainly a week would be barely enough to really see it all, and nobody could handle such a concentrated dose of history in one swell foop.

I've probably been there 20 times over the years, but they keep expanding it and making it worthwhile to return.

Thanks for those who have responded.

Since one may be coming from the Detroit area, I thought a convenient location might be Austin Landing in Miamisburg, Ohio. It is just off I-75 at Exit 41. And there are two hotels in the shopping complex: Staybridge Suites and Hilton Garden Inn.

Eatery options at Austin Landing include:

https://deweyspizza.com/location/austin-landing

https://www.bjsrestaurants.com/locations/oh/dayton

https://parkgrilleandbar.com/

https://www.buffalowildwings.com/menu/

Do any of these seem ok? The responses so far indicate it would be a small group.

I'm leaning toward June as the target time frame. I have been to this Deweys location, and am familiar with other locations for BJs and Buffalo Wild Wings. Can't check them out personally yet since I won't get to Ohio until mid-May some time.

Miamisburg is a convenient location, at the crossroad of two interstates.
