People that talk in theatres

We went to see Valkyrie on Christmas. We really enjoyed it, but an adult in the row behind us spilled his drink all over Frank at the beginning. Consequently Frank missed the first few scenes because he was trying to clean his glasses, and his clothing was wet too so that was pretty hard to do. Of course, no apology or acknowledgement of any problem was offered.

I paid real money to watch a local stand-up comedian in 1990, and the people who talked during his performance got his direct personal attention for an unforgettable experience-- worth every penny!
We went to a performance like that. Political satire and comedy. The cast warned quite clearly to not use cell phones and then were brutal to those that did. Even when singled out and totally ridiculed, some folks still left their phones on and took calls – much to their regret. Not sure what it is. Some folks just don’t think and are seemingly unaware of their surroundings.

One advantage of FIRE is the weekday matinee. Discount price, lots of empty seats and attended mostly by older retired folks – who are much more courteous once the film starts.

We too recently went to see Brad Pitt age "backwords" as Benjamin Button and was quite surprised that the movie was 3 hours long! We had a row of 5 kids that looked to be 12-16 or so....needless to say they were acting their ages....talking....texting....and then out came the laser light....and that was it for me....I blurted out that "if they couldn't get things togther that maybe I could go get an usher to help them out" (thanks to having read here earlier)....well....you could have heard a pin drop immediately after that :D

While they did keep moving around....texting and talking....at least it was quieter for quite some time....and after they started up again, I only had to lean forward and invoke "the stare"....

thanks for the poster's recommendation!!

you shoulda pulled a tromboneal and whacked em on the head with anythingyou had handy

There is apparently a bootleg device (banned by the FCC) that is used in some venues that broadcasts a local short-range signal that keeps cell phones from working. Maybe this is a better choice?

Also, as an early retiree, one of the big benefits is going to a Tues. afternoon movie when there are only 4 other people in the theater....

I think that there may have actually been one of Al's followers in another theatre that night as a local police officer was escorting a gentleman out as our movie was letting out....:bat:....he was still fuming as he was exiting

There's no excuse for bringing a child that young to a movie theatre. If you do bring a very young child to the theatre you need to leave if it starts crying like that.
One of the theaters near me has special matinees for mothers/nannies with babies. I might be very unhappy if I inadvertently bought a ticket for such a showing. It's one of the traps we ERs have to look out for. It's dangerous out there, folks.

I also just saw Benjamin Buttons and at the most inopportune time some one's cell phone went off and they answered it and started talking . Luckily I was rows away from that person because I would have shushed them . By the way I thought Bradd Pitt was great in that movie .
