eCanadaNow » Anna Paquin Announces She’s Bisexual

Here is an interesting angle. Anna Paquin, 27, who is engaged to actor Stephen Moyer, has come out as bisexual.

Presumably since she has openly come out, she would not be planning to renounce this aspect of her sexuality, but then it appears that necessarily she will be doing what has recently gotten so many men into trouble lately-- doing someone who is not your official do-mate.

But of course I guess it can hardly come as a surprise to Mr. Moyer when he is confronted with the news that indeed his bi wife has gotten some on the side, as on the side would seem to be a natural corollary of marrying a bisexual, whereas it was a big surprise when poor dear Sandra Bullock learned that her biker-boy, ex of a porn star had continued his naughty ways while Sandra was away for many months making a film. (Incidentally, does it seem that Sandra is showing her age lately, poor thing?)

At the same time, the ever clever American public might also understand Anna's need as an aspect of her nature. On the other had, are heterosexual lovers fungible? Michelle the tatoo model Nazi dresser equals Miss Goody Sandra?

Will Anna get a pass if she limits her outside activity to those whom she must go outside for? What if she meets another appealing male, must she turn away from that taste?

I await the unfolding of events, ready to learn.

Ha

Heck, yes, Anna will get a pass! Her fiance knows about it and probably just loooooves the idea. Wouldn't be the first and won't be the last. He probably joins in or wants to if she romps outside the marriage.
She doesn't need sex addiction, also, because it doesn't seem to be a problem for her..or anyone else. She's just an equal opportunity gal.
This marriage will be like that of Sting and Trudy Styler which has lasted. They swing, they swap, they like it. To each their own...go figure? But who am I to criticize (I'm just a plain vanilla gal myself).

HaHa, Sandra Bullock was on Jay Leno just before the Academy Awards and looked like a knockout, and, to me, she isn't even a sexy woman but she sure looked it on Leno. In fact, waaaay better than I thought she looked at the Awards where she looked very stressed, uptight and too white to me. I just wonder if she "knew" something then?
Look at this photo from that show--a hot mama:

Like HaHa would turn this down....hee, hee: http://www.dailycomedy.com/images/jokes/b/sandra_bullock.jpg
Long in the tooth? All us gals should look so good!

I really think there is no such thing as curing sex addiction unless it includes surgery . Some very smart people came up with the idea so big stars can save face by declaring the are going for treatment . It probably is just a spa with better food and drinks . Seriously have you ever known any one who went into treatment for sex addiction ? I haven't and I've known some pretty bed hopping people .

Bisexual doesn't necessarily mean "must be with both sexes." To many, it simply means that gender doesn't limit who they find attractive. I know more than a few bisexuals who make it clear that they don't sleep around and prefer monogamy. They'd be pretty insulted if someone implied they needed to get some outside nookie because they were bi.

Many people in committed relationships (heterosexual or gay) are able to fend off their attraction to individuals of whatever sex they prefer in favor of their significant others--I don't know why Anna Pacquin couldn't do the same.

It didn't occur to me that someone would publically announce facultative bisexuality.

I have a Q about sex addiction.

If a drug addict goes into rehab, they enter a 12 step program etc. I believe the idea is that they shake the hold (swear off dope forever) that this addiction has on them and hopefully they can live a clean life there after. Wonderful, if they stay the course.

What happens in sex addiction? Do they have to swear off sex forever also? Seems harsh, but if that's what it takes...

Why would [-]we[/-] you care what a bunch of Hollywood people do in their (or other's) bedrooms?

I have my own life and they aren't part of it. I also assume that I'm not part of theirs.:)

Yes, they have to stay off sex forever, and stay 12 steps away from anyone they find attractive*.

*that was a joke - I have no idea what the treatment is.

Thanks for the correction to my failings. Sorry I bothered you, but OTOH you were interested enough to comment. :)

BTW, this thread went for 14 pages- so I guess not everyone is as well adjusted as you are.

My, my, I wasn't trying to hit a nerve. OOC, why do you care?

Same reason you did-you did read the thread, right?

My interest was mainly that it seemed that a quick way for a man to get reviled is to go outside, and it appeared that perhaps that was not true in all married situations. I am trying to imagine a male actor saying, "Oh, I by the way I am bisexual but I am getting married next week."

But hey, if you aren't happy with my interest, just pass on by.

I think the big difference is the openness of communication between the partners. What difference does it make to anybody who is not in the relationship? Is it really cheating if your partner agrees to let you have some extra-marital carnal fun? Tiger et. al. went out behind their spouses back and did not have permission. That causes problems. If after giving permission one of the partners decides they don't want to share anymore then the sharing must stop. It is a couple in the relationship it has to be a couples decision to go outside of the marriage for extra fun.

I would have to agree that just because Anna Paquin is bi does not mean she is allowed to go out and have extra fun. It would be up to her and her husband. I don't see a problem with it.

I don't think it's like drug addiction - since taking a harmful drug one time can cause addiction, and the drug itself is poison to your system. More like learning to find a balance where your sex life doesn't disrupt the rest of your life. In that sense, it's probably more like kicking "food addiction," since it is not a good plan to stop eating forever.

So [-]we [/-]I am prepared in case "Hollywood" is in my future... I wouldn't want to appear unsophisticated.

From my understanding from a friend of mine who is a physician who worked at one time with sex addicts in a clinical setting like Jesse went to, sex addiction is THE hardest addiction to cure of all. She said it was because it is so primary to the psyche and who we are (vs. alcoholism, say).
Since we both knew someone who was a sex addict, we sat down and she ran thru all the signs/symptoms of a sex addict and he had each and every one. It was an amazing and interesting conversation that I wish I knew even more about as it was that fascinating to study.
Michael Douglas the actor went to one of these clinics and is now "cured." I'm guessing he's around 60-something now...and his libido just ran out with old age. Don't hear about 70 year old sex addicts much do we? Heroin addicts have a phenomenon that--if they live that long--they just stop doing heroin around 45. Guess when your libido starts dying you quit being a sex addict.
