What did you do today? 2018 version

The young wife and I went to see "Phantom Thread", which just won an Academy Award for costume design. Before we married long ago, she worked in a fashion house as a first pattern maker (and occasionally as a model), so she was particularly interested. The clothes were nice, but the story was odd and, to my mind, rather boring.

Went to see the Blue Angels and several other great acts at the Luke Days 2018 air show.

Yesterday I completed 4-5 tax returns (not ours). Two were a complete b*tch. This season I've completed about 70-75 returns (helping a friend). There are many stories in the Naked City...

I've seen some of those in San Francisco. My favorite part is just fast flying. They usually have just one plane fly at high speed over the bay, so fast that you don't hear it coming until it's already there.

DW and I jumped on an Alaska flight to Maui this morning. Got settled in the condo after making the obligatory stop at Costco. Spotted a whale mother and calf breaching offshore and just now finished our dinner at Duke’s. Looking forward to catching up on my sleep, even though it is not even 7pm here.

We drove up to Santa Barbara yesterday, stopping at a French Bistro for lunch, then checked into out hotel. We went out to dinner at a nice restaurant next to the theater.
Last night was the next to final stop On the Dancing With the Stars tour. The show was fantastic, full of high energy. It was sure a lot better than driving into Hollywood and standing for 3 hours.
Today we found a great restaurant for lunch. DW had a lobster Eggs Benedict, and I had a Dungeness crab omelet. Both were fantastic!

Up & out early (for me) at 9:00 to get a haircut, fill the truck with gas, buy new windshield wiper blades. Then back home to get DW, go to the gym and a minor grocery run, then back home.

A small bird (starling?) came in the garage when I was leaving & didn't want to exit the garage so I just shut the door and figured it'd leave when I came back. No such luck, I guess he felt safer up in the rafters than coming down low enough to get out, at least with people around. So when we got back home we left the garage and pedestrian door open for about an hour and I guess that was enough time to settle down and leave.

On the first day of Spring tomorrow, we're forecast for between one and nine inches of snow depending on who's doing the forecast. DW is scheduled for an endoscopy tomorrow and my turn is the day after. I may get to try out the new snow thrower after all.

We had a nice weekend - with the highlights of a Journey tribute band concert, seeing the musical of The Wedding Singer in the city, and taking the dog to one of his favorite parks with a walk around a lake. Today we're catching up around the house and yard and getting one of the cars repaired. I made turkey soup this morning in my thermal cooker and we had that for lunch.

Got up at 5:00AM, to drive to Durango for my last part of the root canal. Left home around 6:30, still petty dark. On the way I caught a nice view of chimney rock, I was hoping to catch different light but mother nature wanted it her way.

Long time in the chair, but painless.

Took DW to the endoscopy, all is fine. We have about 3 inches of wet snow so for the first time I used the snow thrower. It works fine. We're in for the rest of the day, more snow forecast for tonight/tomorrow.

I had a root canal in Jan. It took and hour and it was done. A specialist in Colo Springs. Maybe a little too fast. The tooth was not deadened when he started. Not painless... Two more sessions for a crown.

I think I may need another this month. I had a crown redone last week and the nerve was likely dead. I'll find out in the next week or so.

I'm starting to feel like I am going down a path similar to W2R. :(

Went to rehab ! What a concept paying someone to make you work out harder each time .It is working but I need a nap after that .

Today I received word that I was accepted for a three day temporary contract position as a tee shirt hustler for the upcoming 2018 Rock & Roll Marathon. Once I've completed this three day engagement, I am going to remove my last "real job" from my resume (which was 13 years) and replace it with the upcoming Tee Shirt hustler gig. :D

What is this "resume" thing??

Another take on it:

Up until I started school at age six, my only obligation was to amuse myself.

After my ER date, I resumed that mode.

I hope not! But my teeth have always been bad so take heart. When I was a kid, most people with teeth as bad as mine ended up toothless by the time they reached my present age. All I can say is thank goodness for dental implants and modern dentistry in general.

My dentist does root canals in probably 1/2 hour or so, and they are completely pain free. Last time he even did the type where they go in through your crown so that you don't need a new crown. This is easier to go through than getting a cavity filled.

My first root canal was in 1968, and wow, what a difference! They were awful to endure, back then, and took weeks and weeks to complete.

Dental health is a strange thing, my sister and brother both have awful teeth and always have..I've had the few odd fillings and a couple of crowns..fingers crossed it stays that way.

My dentist says "I don't know how you do it, but keep it up." I tell him that how I do it is no eat sugar or starch. Sorry if I've crowed about that before.

Fishing in the pouring rain today, in my drypants and drytop and Seattle sombrero.

As they say, there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. I was 100% dry and comfortable (58 degrees).

What do you catch? And do you eat it?

Caught a big rainbow trout and a small cutthroat trout. You can only keep large cutthroats, so no fish dinner tonight.

Too bad. This past weekend, the young wife had a recipe for trout, but we could not find it at any of the supermarkets around us. We settled for rockfish.
