I wasn't informed. Walked in to work today, and there was the package. Surprise.

Congratulations on your complete exit package from megacorp. That was a sweet deal. I was a 25 year employee at former megacorp. In hindsight, I should have worked out an exit deal. Unfortuntely, I decided to hang in there until retirement. Didn't work out, new division president invented a reason to fire me. Received a severance package, but not nearly as good as ours.
I am now retired and love it!! I had a lot of bitterness, but time does heal.
Playing golf 4 days a week and spending lots of time with grandchildren has sweetened me up!! Pity the poor bastards that have to work in the new millenium corporate world.

In my case I knew about my departure 8 months before it happened. I had planned on retiring but delayed my retirement by a couple of months to get the package and it worked out great.....
As part of my package I was offered a 6 months outplacement service but I only attended one session about "transition into retirement".
