My BIL's 60th birthday is coming up and DW wants me to make him a gift. In 1983, DW and BIL's grandfather had a professionally produced recording made of his piano playing. We seem to have the only copy, on cassette tape, of course. I've transferred the tape to digital format, but am wondering about two things: 1) should I break the recording up into tracks, even if I can't identify all the tunes, and 2) what format would be best? I can make a CD, put it on a flash drive, etc.

I am thinking that the best thing to do is to surreptitiously get it onto whatever device is available to play music and just play it for him during the get together and then I can make him a copy in the format he prefers.

Thanks.
