Origin of your ER.org user name?

I had this desire to keep my Compuserve ID simple so I used my initial and name. Then just kept it. If it is taken, I add 2000 to it.

(This is my first view of such a thread and am amazed at all the history!)

When I did my first Google search on my moniker, the funeral of a gay black man in Tennessee came up first, then a VP with Southern Bell. But since being retired 17 years, I no longer show up! Just another invisible old codger!

My usual username was already taken. I was a toxicologist, thus my name is Paracelsus, the Father of Toxicology.

I'm retired, so now I have Time 2.... anything I want.

One had to bring their own food. I slept, with around 30 Islanders (mainly Tongans), on the forward cargo hold cover. There was an awning above it that provided shade from the tropical sun.

One of the guys with whom I shared a place in 1960s Toronto, and who I recently learned is an ex-parrot, came from the (then rough) port area of Sydney, NSW.........he went to RSA and, due, at the time, to pigmentation rather than ability, landed a job as a foreman in a gold mine.

Thence overland north....in Kenya a Brit who ran a jail/prison allowed him to crash there for a couple nights.

As he was leaving the guy asked if he had a gun....."Oh, no" he said......guy went to a drawer, took out a Beretta and handed it to him.

Further north he went deck class up the Nile.....got into a minor altercation with a local who showed him a knife - friend reciprocated - end of argument.

He still had the pistol in Toronto until my oldest friend talked him into disposing of it.......for 50+ years it's been at the bottom of the Don River.

Name that has been in the family for generations, currently my middle name, I believe of English origin.

Ally was my cat at the time, who passed away years ago. I used her name, because she was nearby when I was trying to think of a username.

Mine is also the name of my favorite Abyssinian cat who passed years ago, along with the initials of everyone in our house.

I tried to come up with something that reflected my love of swimming, snorkeling, boating, water aerobics, listening to the ocean...

I'm a low maintenance gal; I don't need fancy things to make me happy. Of course this means I didn't have fancy spending habits, which helped us significantly in our quest to retire early.

I am a simple girl because it doesn't take material things to make me happy.

My celebrity crush is Jessica Alba.
You're not the only one!

A friend of mine who worked security in a Vegas hotel escorted her and hubby on a back elevator once. I asked how she looked, and he said "nothing special". Maybe he was maintaining professional decorum, or maybe he has different tastes, or didn't get a good look. I think I'll disagree rather than take his word.

A friend of mine said this to me years ago when I was apologizing/complaining about something, I don't even remember. It is his constant state of mind. I have found it amazing how happy I am when I embrace just being. There is good in everything. It's all good.

Live in DFW area, and this was my user name on car forums when I owned a BMW.

Asher is an old biblical name meaning ‘blessed or happy’ and Aion is a Greek word meaning or related to ‘time’

Put them together and and we are hoping for a happy time in retirement and feel blessed that we are able to semi retire at 53 and 51.

I love that. That will be my motto for retirement..

Apparently I am the most optimistic person my friends and family know. Go figure. ;)

It was available!

And not my usual online moniker. Didn't want to use that when potentially discussing money matters.

I love rocks and minerals, and the color, purple. I don't resemble my avatar physically, but can certainly relate to hugging a giant crystal geode!

I love cats and have always envisioned myself as “the crazy cat lady” (“gattara” in Italian) when I am up there in age. I am of Italian descent so it just fits ...

Too funny, when I joined this forum at age maybe 50, I was estimating my retirement to be when I was 58. So I chose "done at 58" as my user name. As I got closer and the math started looking better, I pinned my retirement date for Feb 1 2017 (aged 55) as that was when my pension lump sum could be released.

As it turns out, I was "RIF'ed" as part of a re-org and paid nicely to leave the company 28 days before my planned date, and 22 days before my 55th birthday.

I had the admin here change my username to "doneat54"
just saw your comment. thanks for the tip, I will get in touch with the admin team to change my handle

I can’t remember but I’ve been using online it since the dawn of the interwebs.
