Here's my latest numbers, updated this morning:
+0.23% on 1/31/2020.
-6.78% on 2/28/2020.
-21.45% on 3/31/2020.
-13.31% on 4/30/2020.
-8.82% on 5/29/2020.
-6.56% on 6/30/2020.
-2.32% as of 7/31/2020.
+2.99% as of 8/31/2020.
-0.89% as of 9/30/2020.
As for highs and lows of the year, I peaked at 4.67% on February 19, and bottomed out at -30.47% on March 23. I did briefly hit a new peak, of 4.70%, on September 2, but as the month's closeout shows, that was short-lived.
Interestingly, I saw an article that mentioned this September was the worst September since 2011. But, this September just doesn't stick in my mind as being all that bad, although looking at my own numbers, I'm down almost 3.9%.
The last time I saw a decline in September was 2015, where I dropped about 3% for the month. I dropped about 2.5% in September 2014. Back in 2011, around that timeframe, the only data points I saved were 7/7/11, where I hit a new all-time high, 8/8/11, where I bottomed out down with roughly a 14% drop, and then 9/30/11, where I was up barely, like 0.3%. On 9/30/11, I started saving only month-end data, so it was easier to compare from year to year. Prior to that, i'd only save extremes, so the graph would show the absolute highs and lows of any given trend.
So, I guess it's possible that late August of 2011 saw some serious improvement from August 8, going into September, and then dropped? And, considering I had just lost 14+% in a bit over a month, maybe because of that, whatever September of that year did, just doesn't register with my memory?
