Type of car you drive and age

2011 Hyundai Sonata w/ 35K miles
2017 Honda CRV

There is no plan about keeping cars according to mileage. Average is 7-10 years, I suppose.

Spent about $1300 this past week on Sonata. Set of Michelins, battery, sensor cable harness , oil change. This should get me through another year or so, and possibly go to one car.

2009 Toyota Venza SUV, 27K miles.

I will keep it until I get tired of it and want something else. OK, OK, definitely when it gets around 200,000 miles on it, but at the rate I drive I'll never get to that point.

2017 Rav 4 XLE . So far I really really like it .
Moemg, I am so happy to read that you really really like your Rav4 so far! What a nice outcome.

'09 Infiniti G37: 101K Miles
'12 Toyo Highlander: 60K'ish Miles

We average about 10 years on cars. The longest I have owned one was about 13 years ('93 Ford Ranger).

2005 Lotus Elise
2006 Mini Cooper S
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat

Yeah... I'm not very FIRE when it comes to cars. Cars and drinks, the two things I refuse to cheap out on.

Our household average age of car is 17 years.
Mine is 12 years old (Toy highlander hybrid). DH's truck is 22 years old.

This mix may change in the next week or so... we test drove a subaru forester yesterday. Not sure if we'll sell one of the older cars - or keep it for the kids to use. But neither boy has his license yet. (Older son is old enough but hasn't been pushing for it.)

Me: 2001 Lexus LS 430 (130k)
Wife: 2014 Ford Explorer Limited (47k)

I am going to trade the Explorer for a newer Lexus GX 460 very soon.

Age 46/47.

2003 Jetta TDI diesel - 313,000 miles - runs like a finely tuned Swiss watch

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport - 62,000 miles - DW's grocery getter.

1971 VW Super Beetle - unknown miles - my sanity - something to keep me busy.

2003 Lexus SC430 purchased new. Love the car for it's cuteness and reliability and cool features, but drive it only around the city. 37K miles.

Me - 2016 Toyota 4Runner - 15000 miles. Gave the 2003 Tacoma 173,000 miles to DD. Son-in law drives it a lot.

DW - 2015 Mazda CX5 - 30000 miles.

We usually keep 'em for about 10 or 12 years.

2007 Toyota Corolla ( 40k miles). 2 old ladies owned it before this old lady:)) 2010 Honda Accord with 62k miles. We bought it used in 2013. WE drive them until it is more expensive to fix then the car is worth. The average age of our cars when done is 14.

Looks like I change my car about every 5-7 years. Last 3 have been Subaru Outback. DW is a low mileage driver. I bet her 2009 Yaris will last another 10 years or more.

Gx is pretty nice and the levinson surround sound is amazing

We have 3 cars, all bought new

2009 Infiniti G37X has 45K miles, gave to son for college car

2016 Acura RDX 24K miles

2016 Honda Accord Touring, 1,500 miles. I've owned this 18 months. When I took my RDX in for an oil change I asked my Honda (only) mechanic when I should get my first oil change on my Accord. He said 7,500 miles. I told him that will probably take 5 years to get to. He said to bring it in once a year to look over things that wear out (for free!), but he didn't think we should change the oil until the 7,500 mile breakin period was over.

2010 Ford Escape Hybrid. Bought new 03/10.
2010 Acura TL. Bought new 06/10.
2014 Ford F-150. Bought used 03/16.To pull boat.Mostly sits.

2017 TRD PRO 4Runner - 189 miles. Took delivery 2 months ago. Paid cash.
2016 JK Hardrock Rubicon Wrangler-3028 miles. Paid off loan VERY early.
2012 Harley Davidson Roadking-5027 miles. Another Toy. Own free and clear.

Just sold my 2005 Subaru Outback XT-99000 miles on it on Craigslist.
I miss my SUBI but it was time to say goodbye after 12 years.

I usually own my vehicles around 10 years just like every other millionaire next door. :)

How long do you keep your vehicles and what type of vehicle do you drive.
Average: 5 years ,
2008 Honda S2000 Sports car (used)$19k
2001 Mazda b3000 truck (used)$3500
2012 Lexus gx 460 SUV(used) $37k cash

Last few cars all new:

1985 Mitsubishi Tredia (Financed Over 7 months )
1992 Honda Accord (lease then buyout after 24 months)
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. (Financed over 48 months)
2009 Honda CRV. (Cash)

Average: 8 yrs
Yrs total: 32
Yrs with payments: just over 6.5

2004 Subaru Forester XT. About to hit 100,000. Trying to decide if I want to trade it in for a new one or buy a better gas mileage vehicle and keep the Forester for snow and ice only.

02 PU bought new. 05 Jeep bought used. Both around 150k miles. Usually try real hard for 200k. DW will most likely force a new vehicle when the Jeep hits 200k. Our yrly vehicle registrations are our state tax basically and ridiculously HIGH! Really torques me off so the PU is gonna go as long as I can keep applying duct tape!

a picture is worth a thousand words...the car and the van ae 16's, the bike is a 15.

2010 Infiniti G37 sedan - bought in 2011 - plan to keep for at least 2-3 more years.

2015 Honda CRV AWD bought in 2015 to replace the 2004 Honda CRV AWD that we gave\sold to our daughter. We did not finance it. DD is still driving the '04 as her every day vehicle.

2002 Ford F150. Has 130K original miles on it. Bought it in 2008 with 60K on it.

So both vehicles paid for :)

As mentioned, I just ordered a new 2017 BMW 330i TT for my next lease (3 years). I will be 66 when the new lease runs out. I really like diesels but there was not much of a choice this time round, and the ones that are, did not fit my liking or budget ($5k per year Lease all in). As some of you may know I am a great leasing advocate and have leased for as long as I can remember.

HOWEVER, this Leopard "may" do a spot change in October 2020/1. (If I am still around) :) As diesels are getting somewhat Passé, I may go for a 4 - 5 year old Mercedes E250 Bluetec next time and (Break down and) buy it. I have had 2 Bluetec diesels so far and loved them. (Leasing is a great way to try out cars you are not sure of). The Mercedes diesel engine will last basically forever and other than cloudy headlights, I do not see a negative. I also figure (Hope) that by 2021 they may even be more out of favor, and hence a bargain. I will actually start looking 1 year before my new lease runs out to get a good handle on the market. It could possibly be my last car.

2004 Acura TL
2008 Acura MDX
We will probably replace the TL this year.
