Songs that make you dance

Yeah, well....I know it's disco ...heh...but I've always been a sucker for fine bass licks.

I recall dancing to this one at a party in Riyadh in the late 1980s - the visuals, which I'd never seen before, are a plus:

As I've aged, for the past 10 or so years, I've increasingly enjoyed Lawrence Welk's music. Back in the 60s and 70s, I did not find his orchestrations appealing.

"Tempo Perdido" ("Wasted Time") is a Samba tune first sung by Carmen Miranda in 1934, and recently revived by the Pink Martini band. Its lyric is actually not that happy, a lament about the lost time spent with an undeserving lover.

After seeing the Beach Boys at the Grammys I thought this would be cool.

How I'd love to see bbbamI dance to this tune. :)

Dean Martin died in 1995. I did not know that he was also called the "King of Cool", a title I thought was reserved for Steve McQueen.

Fly free.

OK, the chance of getting bbbamI to post a video of her doing the "Mambo Italiano" is slim...

So, who wants to see Sophia Loren "shake like a tiavanna"? Surely, there are people here who would remember Sophia Loren.

And then, how about the Muppets?

Awwwww NW-B, such fascinating renditions of Mambo Italiano. I have a suspicion this tune will be playing in my head for most of the afternoon. :)

No doubt my hips will be swaying as well.

I will refrain from showing a video of my dancing. I bear more resemblance to a muppet that Sophia Loren.

Well, I always find myself strangely attracted to Miss Piggy, so post (and sway) away!

Full disclosure: I bear a strange resemblance to Cookie Monster (if not in color, at least in food preference).

Just watched Boy On A Dolphin a couple of nights ago. That's where Sophia made her American reputation (coming out of the Aegean Sea). First saw that movie 55 years ago as a 10 year old boy. It wasn't the same experience then, though I remember a lot of the movie. There are a couple of dance numbers in the movie in which Sophia steals the show.

Yeah....I was 14 at the time it came out......they had to dig a trench for Loren to walk in, so that Alan Ladd looked taller than her.

I'm not a dancer but anytime this comes on radio in the garage I can't help but stop what I'm doing, crank it up and start dancing and jumping around like I used to back in my 1970's arena concert days.
My wife thinks I'm nuts, but she never knew me back then. Elbows on the stage, live concerts when ever possible. For some reason the back beat on this song gets me jumping around like Angus.

Sing like no ones listening, dance like no ones watching...

One of my favs of all time for sure. "Those aren't pillows"

You must have meant this scene.

I don't know how to get a YouTube video onto this site (or, on any other site), but if someone will transfer the Rita Hayworth Staying' Alive video to this thread, at least a few of us will feel happier for it.
