... Then stopped at the French Bistro for a couple of slices of Quiche...

Yep. Real men do eat quiche, despite some claims to the contrary.

Had our windows get their annual washing today. We have 19 plus a glass patio door, so I farmed this out from the time we bought the house. Totally worth it.

I have 22 windows in one home. Trying hard to remember the last time I washed one, since I moved in almost 30 years ago. The rain seems to do a good job.

In any case, 12 were replaced 2 years ago, so I should be good for another 30 years.

Emptied, chipped bad concrete, swept, and power blew the floor of the garage. Tomorrow - wet clean & etch, next day patch, next day epoxy coat.

DW and I randomly decided to take the dogs on a walk in the hills on Tuesday and to my surprise saw a bunch of grouse (I had never seen one). Today was opening day of grouse season so I went back out there to see if there were still around. I managed to bag 2 dusky (AKA blue) grouse.

Although it s cooler than dove hunting, chasing grouse this time of year is done at 7500' elevation covering a lot of ground with lots of uphill and downhill fun. 5 hours later I was pretty beat. Came home, plucked the suckers, showered and now supervising DD2's night to make dinner (noodles in a peanut sauce with assorted fresh veggie toppings). I am taking her dove hunting tomorrow for her first outing, so will be chasing her to bed early so we can get up at 4.

Today's river trip was ~100 high school juniors from a school in Brooklyn. Many of them had never been out of NYC, most of them had never spent time in "nature".

It was fun listening to their questions / concerns. One girl was afraid that fish in the river would bite her. A boy thought we were on a "lazy river" type amusement that would circle us around to our starting point.

They were all out of their element, had trouble paddling, and kept getting stuck on rocks. But there was a lot of laughing and kids helping each other. Hopefully some of them appreciated being in the mountains. I worked hard but it was a good day.

About twenty years ago my late wife & I were camping at a Corps of Engineers park, (Washington State perhaps).......talking to a Park Ranger while looking over a small ridge at a bunch of 'young offenders' (good kids, he said, mainly minor possession charges, who'd never been out of the city), clearing brush.

Suddenly there was a yell/scream and the bunch scattered......Ranger said "I'd better go down, they've probably seen a grass snake".

Drained, scrubbed, refilled, changed filters of hot tub. Hit start button of roomba. Now off to the coffee shop.

Burning is allowed during the rain season up here. We have accumulated a pile of tree trimming and rubbish from the deck project. It's time to get a bonfire going. Have not done this for many years.

When we just bought this boondocks place 12 years ago, we were burning every weekend to get rid of the tree prunings.

Woke up to see Irma had changed course.
Purchased food and fuel and coffee and wine.
Hurricane prep stage one.

Late night. Our neighbors dog had an issue for hours last night. I'm not sure perhaps there was a bear wandering around. I almost walked up to chat but it was 1:30AM and I probably won't be as friendly S I should be. Shut the windows and I went to sleep.

We took the dogs for a walk. The one has been having an issue with his feet. I ended up carrying him about a third of the way.

It's getting nutty with the deer, they're everywhere. Probably 15 came through here yesterday and several more this morning. Mom and her twins were about 10 yards away and just stopped. We both stared at the other for 5 minutes. They finally went back to the canyon.

Now I'm listening to the thunderstorms, no rain here but lots of noise. It got cool quickly.

C'est ne pas Irma la Douce, oui? Guess whoever came up with that name hasn't been around for long.

I am surfin' the Web with my laptop tethering to the phone. Speed is much improved compared to that in the last few days when the phone Internet link was unusable in midday.

The weekenders have left this high-country boondocks area, so they can go to work tomorrow. Poor people commuting to work in 105F temperature. Glad I can stay here in cool weather. Some years, it stayed warm down in the low elevations till Halloween.

Hurricane prep stage four. Second generator, electric cooler unit (insulin needs to be kept cold).
Seeing to get some prescriptions ahead of schedule.
Will move boat to car port.

Take care, Khan! Best of luck and we are all hoping you will get through this safely.

What did I do today? Commuted for the last time! Today is my last day in the office.

Congratulations!

Follow-up AM appointment with the plastic surgeon, now he wants to take another chunk of me off as a preventative measure. Since it's going to be done in the office I suppose this is minor.

Went to the gym after that, then home to wait out the thunderstorms.

Burn more tree trimming and scrap wood, and release more carbon into the atmosphere. :)

This carbon won't stay sequestered anyway. It would rot and goes back to where it came from: the air.
