2019 tax software

Amazon had Turbo Tax deluxe+ State + $10 Amazon gift card was listed for $49.99 this morning, rang up $39.99 and still claims it is sending me a $10 gift card so we shall see. $39.99 is a good deal, $29.99 would be a great deal.

Also picked up Quicken 14 months while I was at it for $15 under what Intuit charges directly.

Woo hoo! I got this too. Thanks for sharing. Even got the disk version which I prefer.

I got it too... though it did take me a while to understand that I had to do the selection and I almost mistakenly bought the Mac version.

It gave me 2 separate invoices when I reviewed the order. One for 39.99 and one for 10.

I get the disk sent to me. It has both versions. Where I screwed up was that I bought just the Federal version. Then I realized it wasn’t the one with the state included so I cancelled that order and ordered the correct one. Great deal.

Thanks for the heads up. Just picked it up myself. Charged me $39.99 for the Deluxe plus state download. Also got the $10.00 gift card which they charged $10.00 for so that's where the $49.99 comes in.

I see the deal with Amazon TT Deluxe with state, as $39.99, but I buy a gift card for $10. Total $43 with tax and the gift card comes to the house even though I have $200 in gift cards. By the way 5% Amazon using Discover card if you don't have Prime, pays the sales tax for me.

Great deal, thanks!

NOTE: you have to click on the "Deluxe + State + Gift Card". DO NOT click on the "Deluxe + State" unless you really don't want the free $10 gift card and want to pay the same amount (why would you do that?).

Still can't.

Costco is $69.99 for TTax Premier + State. Amazon is the better deal today. Also, Costco has this banner up on their main page: "The website is currently experiencing longer than normal response times. Please note that all Thanksgiving Day-only promotions have been extended into Friday November 29th, WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. We apologize for any inconvenience."

PLEASE IGNORE THIS POST (see RunningBum's post #112) Rather than deleting the entire post I've grayed it out below and deleted the link, but leaving it here so that post #112 makes sense. My apologies.

Just saw Turbo Tax Deluxe + State for $29.99 on Intuit site (PC download), offer good for 7 days.

I don't think that's actually Intuit's site, and I doubt they are a licensed reseller. How did you find it?

When I go to intuit.com and shop for turbo tax, I get sent to https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/

I suspect the site you referenced is a pirate software site. "Whois" shows it to be registered to a company in Canada, though I don't know how much that means anymore.

At best you are buying pirated software, just like buying pirated DVD movies at a flea market. But you also run the risk that they have added something to capture your personal information, such as SSN and all of your tax info. Or they have added bad software that installs on your machine. See https://www.intuit.com/legal/piracy/

Personally, I wouldn't take the risk to save a few bucks.

It seems every year we get reports of very low priced TT, from sources that are otherwise unknown. Personally, I do the same as you and avoid them. Costco is a low price leader and Amazon is usually price competitive, so I view these very low price unknown sites with the thought “if it looks too good to be true, it is too good to be true” and move on. It’s not worth the risk.

I saw one of those last year and almost jumped on it, but for $10 savings, just not worth risking my credit card or getting a pirate version.

I got a couple of price watcher sites focused on TT at Amazon .
Once I get an alert, that's my buy signal. In the meantime, I'm avoiding all the risky sites.

Not sure how it works, but I would think something like camelcamelcamel would miss the deal we got today. The site says $49.99 but they give you a gift card. I wonder if the price watcher would pick up on that.

I've bought TT from https://www.kenshopusa.com/ for at least six years. I used to think "this price is too good to be true" but now I have to think if it wasn't legit they'd have closed it by now. $36 for Deluxe Fed and State. Delivery is by download and the install code comes in your confirmation email.

The $39.99 Amazon deal is gone now. It rings up as $49.99 plus tax for the software plus the gift card. Not good enough to tempt me ($29.99 after the gift card would have been a smokin deal. Nuts!). I'll guess I'll wait for another deal.

I don't think it was ever $29.99 for the TT Deluxe + State. It rings up as $39.99 and you do get a $10 gift card, but you paid for the gift card, so that nets to zero impact. I was happy with the $39.99. I think that's what I paid last year and to get it for that before year end is all I needed to grab that deal.

Amazon is the place

I use H&R Block software and only need the Federal Deluxe package, seeing as how we are a no income tax state. Bought the downloadable version yesterday for $14 plus tax. Good price.

Great deal, thanks!

Downloaded Turbotax (TT) Deluxe and installed on Windows7.

TT dialog box recommends upgrading to Window 8 or 10 but otherwise seems to work fine.

The implication is that TurboTax 2020 returns wont be supported on Windows7.

I hate MS Windows. Only keep it around for TurboTax and Sketchup.

Any idea if you can download PC and Mac versions with the one license you bought? I usually run it on both types of machines each year.

Don't know about the download, but the disk says it's for both. I don't see any reason you wouldn't be able to use it on both machines. My guess is that you would have to get Intuit involved to get the extra download for free, but I imagine it would be possible. Just my guess though.

I bought Deluxe from what I later came to believe was a suspect site a few years ago. Nothing bad happened but I'm not going to repeat it to just save a few bucks.

What I did do to save a bit this year was to but Deluxe rather than Premier.... it didn't look like Premier added any functionality.
