What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

So although we felt the story line was "just ok", it certainly is fantastic for what's available as TV sci-fi nowadays.
Now I'm on to Discovery.

It was nice to see Picard and Seven of Nine again but I thought the new series wasn't great and the finale was poorly written. To each their own.

I'm just getting around to finishing Penny Dreadful. Starring Timothy Dalton, Josh Hartnett and the incredible Eva Green.

We finished the third season of Ozark, and actually went back to the start of that season to try and make sure we more clearly understood Helen and her relationship with Navarro throughout the season.

We think we understand better....now.

Designated Survivor: Spoiler Alert

If you have not seen the show, and might, don't read any further.

We are 3-4 episodes in. I like the premise (I am a big Tom Clancy fan), but a few obvious WTF's just stand out:

1. The Designated Survivor (DS) is in a secure location with a window's view of the Capital Building? Really? If we really do that, we are screwed.

2. It is not until a week later that someone thinks, that MAYBE, someone snuck some explosives in during a renovation. YOU THINK? They leveled the Capital building. This was not a rocket attack. For the first several episodes, that is not even under consideration. (yes, there is a mine discovered, but no one is talking about how you get enough of them in the building to create this disaster.)

3. Business as usual after the fact. Sorry, the New Pres would not be whisked to the White House (a potential target!!!) within hours of the attack. They would be so far from Washington it would make your head spin.

Just a rant. Please don't spoil it for me. maybe it get's better, or at least a little closer to reality.

We finished the third season of Ozark...

We finished Season 2 last night and am quite anxious to get season 3 started. I keep hearing that is was even better than the other seasons which is almost unbelievable. The characters, the story lines (so many!), the fantastic acting...it's just so good. I hope we can stick to our "only two episodes a day" rule, though! :D

Saw that on the commercial before it started, and that's what made me decide not to waste my time.

Be sure to watch Ozark from the beginning, not just the new season. You will be lost if you don't start from the beginning.

We just got Netflix and this is the show that DW has insisted we watch... have watched only one show so far but would agree that if you did not watch the first you would be lost...

We really enjoyed the first episode, and were quite excited about watching the series.

But the second episode completely went off the rails. Totally stupid - so bad that we turned it off. Too bad.

I felt the same. The big problem I had with Hunters was that the general "comic book" production style came across to me as trivializing what was serious and tragic subject matter. Very disrespectful, I thought. A shallow treatment.

We've watched the first two episodes of Norsemen on Netflix and think its hilarious.
There is some violence, but - and I know this sounds strange - its funny too!

It is tough for me to "binge" a series for more that 2 episodes in a day, and I avoid being in front of the TV for more than 2 hours at a stretch. So I am currently swapping among these series:

- Doc Martin (Season 9)
- Z Nation (Season 2)
- The Middle (Season 2)
- Peaky Blinders (Season 3)
- Containment (Season 1)
- Lost in Space (Season 2)
- Deadwood (Season 3)
- DCI Banks (Season 5)
- In Plain Sight (Season 1)
- Outer Limits (both the original and the 90s series)

Once I finish a few of these, I'll start on a few others.

Wow-you are a professional!

I love Eva Green. Penny Dreadful really shows her acting chops. Incorporates all the characters I've followed since childhood. One of my favorite classes in high school was Gothic Literature. So fun, yet frightening.

Better Call Saul - Season 5 (as good as Breaking Bad)
Ozark - Season 3 (Jason Bateman is the MAN!)
Grantchester - Season 2 (great BBC series - really enjoying it)

Wow-you are a professional!

Thanks, but not really. :) My preferred TV watching is live sports, which are gone for now, and I am not much into watching replays. It is mainly watch an episode from two different series, go do something else for a while, watch another 2 episodes from different series, go do something else for a while... about 4-6 total episodes per day, based on their length (and how interesting the "something else" gets). It is more like programming my own TV station. :)

Finished Better Call Saul and Ozark. Just found Goliath on Amazon Prime. Don't know how we missed this one. Very good.

I'm really enjoying "The Capture" (2019) on Amazon Prime. If you like British detective shows, you'll probably like this. Better than some of the Acorn episodes I've watched lately. It's by BBC.

I don't want to complain...but AHHHHHHHHHHHH.....there is TOO much to watch! We have really enjoyed the first couple seasons of Better Call Saul, but I didn't see the last couple seasons of Breaking Bad, so trying to catch up on that before getting back to BCS. Watched Tiger King...that's a regret of mine. Watched 1st season of Ozark and really liked it, so now have to get through seasons 2 and 3. Also like Schitt's Creek, but haven't watched that in about a year. At this rate, to see all the shows I would like to see, I will need to live to be 121 years old!!!!

Oh my. Schitts Creek is great. I need to get on Ozark and Gladiators everyone says good things. Carole Baskin is someone I won't waste any time on heard enough through others even with the social distancing its funny how things still go viral. The nurse and DW were rehashing it throughout her delivery lol.

GoT is on my list but I might slow watch that later. Wife liked stranger things.

Thanks we enjoy UK shows like this, got the mini series today, look forward to watching it.

I'm a good bit into season 1 of Star Trek Discovery. The Klingon scenes are tiresome because of the subtitles and all of the pomp and circumstance but the story line is good. Better than the story line in Picard, imo. I'm less into the battle scenes and hand to hand combat than a lot of sci fi watchers, which is why I liked STNG, even if it was a bit preachy and has kids (Wesley) as people that make a difference in the world. My kids grew up watching TNG and Voyager. The messages were something I like to think shaped them to be a positive force in the universe :)

I'd like to also send my appreciation to those of you here that share your details about why you find various stuff worth watching.

Just completed "Tiger King" on Netflix. Pretty good! The truth is really stranger than fiction!

Almost done with "Ozark", season 3. Just fantastic! Usually don't watch TV until the evening but Ozark is going on soon and it's only noon.

Watched all 4 seasons of "Rita" on Netflix. English subtitles. A teacher with a dysfunctional personal life. Thought is was great! Probably not everyone's "cup of tea". Season 4 is the best.

Just finished Goliath season 1 on Amazon Prime video. Started out very intriguing. Billy Bob Thornton is a great actor. The legal issues and conflicts were nicely set up.

Then one plot implausibility after another occurred until they had piled up beyond belief. A much anticipated courtroom scene was a complete dud with the writers taking a cheap route (said route was supposed to be ironic, instead it was just another implausibility.) BTW this show sets a record for eff word usage. Also, every character in the show is depraved in one way or another. You've been warned.

Last night we took advantage of the free HBO promotion to start "Barry". This is funny! Dark, but definitely funny, and Henry Winkler is great.

Too much information? Really? I purposely wrote my post so as not to reveal anything.

Plot holes are a matter of opinion. Name one plot implausibility I listed.

Why was the final showdown a "dud"?
