Paranormal Experiences?

Consider the vast distances between star systems. How would they get here? Even if some advanced species were able to travel the speed of light, it still would not be fast enough.
Agreed, it would "seem" they would need to either beat the speed of light "somehow" (and by a lot) or have extremely long lifespans. Or maybe we just don't understand enough about space/time...

One can never say never in a case like this. IIRC, Carl Sagan pointed out that while some extraterrestrial intelligent life form may exist, and be able to communicate with us, what are the odds that their communication ability is in sync with our ability to receive it?

We've only had radio communication for ~ 100 years, out of 3.5 billion years of life on Earth. Odds are, either we die off, or they do. It would be unexpected for our technology paths to cross at the same instant in time.

That's true.

I also think that if there life intelligent enough to reach Earth today they would also be smart enough to learn everything they want to know about us without stepping foot on the planet. After all, we've been broadcasting radio, TV, and communications into space for decades.

Maybe 10,000 years from now a planet 10,000 light years away will start to receive our broadcasts. And maybe one day we'll start receiving broadcasts from a distant planet that was sent 10,000 years ago.

A future of old jokes and TV reruns.

Maybe it's just me but it does seem like the number of reported sightings of UFO's, bigfoot, etc. have gone down over the years now that just about everyone carries a HD camera (cellphone) with them.

When I saw the thread title, I thought “THIS is gonna be GOOD” and it was until it drifted off topic. I wish I had a personal experience to share but my life experiences have been strictly normal.

Heck, maybe they don't want us to know they are out there, and are smart enough to avoid detection.

Cixin Liu has an excellent Sci Fi book called The Dark Forest about why a race would choose to hide.

I have to admit when I was much younger and played in a group with a Ouija board, I did steer the teardrop just to scare the younger kids that were also playing. I even blew out the candle sometimes for dramatic effect.

There are literally billions of people with cameras in their phones and yet the recording of paranormal activity and UFOs has dropped off sharply over the years. Even with my trail camera with night vision, all I record are possums, racoons, and squirrels.

However, we do have a local CGI special effects company that created this video demonstrate how easy it is to fool people with today's technology.

While most people would thing that the UFO was CGI generated, this video surprised people on what was real and what was all CGI generated.

I don't know if there are aliens from another planet visiting us. From what I have read there is a cleverly concealed tunnel at the North Pole that goes all the way into the center of the Earth. The center of the Earth is where the advanced race of humans from the continent of Atlantis went after Atlantis sunk. Using flying saucers they have been observing us for centuries. They usually conclude we are not worth contacting so they back inside and wait to see if those of us on the surface improve with time. Needless to say the entrance to the tunnel is covered by a lot of ice and snow most of the time.

Because of global warming they are boring another tunnel to the continent of Antarctica. They may have to seal off the one up North if too much ice melts.

I dunno, I think the everyday world is paranormal enough.

paranormal
adjective

denoting events or phenomena such as telekinesis or clairvoyance that are beyond the scope of normal scientific understanding.

“Not only is the Universe stranger than we think, it is stranger than we can think.”

― Werner Heisenberg

Human behavior is weird enough as it is. I don't have the energy to deal with more than that.

Quaint story...but how did they drill a tunnel through the ocean (North Pole)?

Inside the Hollow Earth - It's called the Kingdom of Shambala (or Shangrila) and the main city is called Agartha. They have entrances in the North and South Pole. However, the Dalai Lama has mentioned a tunnel from his Potala palace in Lhasa Tibet that allow you to go to there thru tunnels. The Dalai Lama sent a messenger monk and then when the monk went back a second time, he chose to stay there.

Pre-Flood days (during the time of Noah and Lamech (Noah's father)), there were the Watchers and the Nephilims (race of giants), their offsprings, as mentioned in the bible. They were also called the Annunakis or the Sumerian Gods (and yes, they were Aliens who engineered us - the Adamus/Adam).
It's possible that they are still inside the Hollow earth.

We were not the first humans, but we were the first human race with the most Annunaki blood. In those times, the Annunakis lived for thousands of years. Hence, you can see the bible saying Methusala lived to 900+ years old, Lamech to 777 years old, Noah 950 years, and Enoch was 365 years before he was 'taken by God to heaven' - well, the UFO people says he was taken by a spaceship up to the heavens, as during those days UFOs appeared like balls of fires from heaven.

Reported UFO sightings have actually gone up.

I would even PAY to experience any kind of paranormal stuff. I've always wanted to see ghosts, UFO's, encounters with angels, strange occurrences like lights flickering or electronics acting wacky or my cats growling for no reason, as some people have experienced, but nothing for me, nada. Maybe things like that do not happen to me because they know I would freak out and sh*t in my pants, so they're leaving me alone.

But one can still hope...

I'm not joking. I'm serious. I want to see something tangible enough that it would freak me out.

Well, there's one thing actually - I don't even know if this qualifies as anything, but I went to a United Way fundraiser event, maybe it was 1995 or 1994, and I watched this African American looking guy, a reverend (or someone like that), speak. And I could see a golden halo around his head to around his shoulders. Mind you, I'm not religious. I'm not even sure what he talked about, but I remember that he was a great speaker, you know, the emotive kind. Maybe I was experiencing a silent migraine, but the thing was only around his head and nobody else's.

My sister and I spent summers with our grandmother in Bowling Green, Kentucky, who owned a very old gothic style brick and stone house. My sister always said it was haunted by a young to middle aged woman, but I never had any encounters that allowed me to believe that.

About 40 years later my sister was in Bowling Green just passing through with her partner, and she drove to the house just to reminisce about the past there, which was overall good. After sitting in the car on the street in front of the house for just a few minutes, a young girl of about 14-16 years came out of the front door and approached the car, just curious why they were sitting there.

My sister shared our past history of being there for many summers with my grandmother, and how much we loved the house. The young girl then asked "Did you ever meet the ghost that lives here?" She then described her as middle aged woman, quiet, calm, but certainly a presence. My sister said yes....she was there when we were, but she never frightened us in any way. The young girl agreed. She was not afraid of her at all.....just knew she was there.

Since I had no experience with the ghost it did not feel real. But I believe my sister and that young lady so many years later that there was something there.

Many years ago I was on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce in my town. At the annual Chamber dinner, a well known psychic from down state Illinois was the guest speaker. She had done many things with her psychic powers over the years, including helping law enforcement find murder victims. As board President, I was sitting on one side of the psychic, and the Chamber executive director was sitting to her other side. I remember the psychic was speaking to the executive director and took hold of her hand for a few moments. The psychic got a very concerned look on her face and told the executive director to call her soon as she wanted to talk to her. Sitting there listening, this kind of gave me the creeps. I do not know if the executive director ever made the call, but I do know the executive director collapsed at the table at a business luncheon not to far down the line and she died. She had a brain aneurysm. I was not at the luncheon, but when I heard the news I immediately recalled the conversation with the psychic and wondered if the psychic had a premonition of her death. I will never forget that.

One possible trick would be to feel people's pulse as you're holding their hand, or feel for abnormal coldness.

No idea about the "big stuff" of the paranormal (UFOs, Big Foot, etc.) I just know I've always had a bit of ESP or whatever word you wish to use to describe it. Nothing too spectacular, for the most part.

A couple of years ago, DW delayed her half of our yearly (until this year) sabbatical to the frozen tundra of the midwest. We agreed that one of us would call the other (no specifics) every few days. One day I was on the computer and KNEW that DW was calling me. I got up to get my phone off the table (it had not rung.) I picked up the phone and nothing happened. Felt REALLY stupid and set the phone back down, just in time for it to ring with DW on the other end. Coincidence? Could be, but doesn't seem likely.

Perhaps my most dramatic esp 'event' was when I had been up for over 24 hours due to issues at w*rk. When I got home, I couldn't recall the 15 mile drive. I was functional but essentially asleep - or dare I say it? In a "trance" whatever that is. Picture one of the scenes in CHRISTMAS STORY where Ralphie is daydreaming. Of course, he is awake, yet he sees a "scene" that is "real" to him at the time. I walked toward my house and "saw" someone standing in the walk way. It was a person I had not seen in perhaps 10 years. The experience jolted me "awake." I fell into bed and went to sleep immediately. An hour later, that person rung my door bell and he was wearing the clothes I had pictured him wearing. Can you say "One Step Beyond?" I loved that series back in the day, but YMMV.

It’s normal for me to see auras and energy globules, so that’s what you saw. There’s a spectrum of light that the human eye cannot see, but it’s there. And it can be captured thru Kirlian photography.

I'd have to admit that my limited esp experiences are "interesting." But they've never been particularly "useful." They haven't allowed me to save a life - or even a bad outcome - except maybe a traffic ticket. I do recall driving and thinking - "hey I bet there's a speed trap around that corner." More than once, there has been. Other than that, just an interesting story to tell.

Most of mine take the form of thinking of a person - or maybe an obscure word or a nearly forgotten song.I haven't heard in a long time. These thoughts will come to mind several times over a period of hours to days. Then, without warning, they are "fulfilled" in reality. Kind of weird, but not useful. YMMV

This was in rural PA. Parents/sister had ufo experience. I wasnt born yet, so it happened out 1981...at night, they pulled up to their house to head down their driveway when they saw a large circular disk floating/hovering over their backyard. Multi colored lights on it. Wasnt making any noise like a typical helicopter. Low enough to throw a rock and hit it. Scared the sh*t out of them. They kept driving and went to uncles house a couple miles down the road. After some time, they came back and it was gone. Mom didnt sleep well for around a month due to being freaked out. That was about it. Not a sexy ufo story but it was pretty cut and dry. Not really something they talk about because who is going to believe you?

Im fascinated with all these sort of things...but nothing out of the ordinary has happened to me.

Boy, I haven't had any experiences with such things so I really don't lean one way or the other.
I do have a younger friend in his late 30's that lives in a ranch house that his uncle had before him. This uncle ended up in a wheel chair in later years and dies in that ranch house. This friend has some interesting things that happen in that house through the years. It scares the hell out if me and don't care to hear the ghostly things that happen. He is a believer big time thou.

Very interesting thread. I definitely feel like I'm sitting around a campfire listening to stories with you all!

I have only had 2 really strange experiences that made me wonder if something supernatural was happening. Both occured after the sudden death of my sister at age 46.

1. My siblings and neice (my sister's daughter) and I were all sitting around our outdoor fireplace the evening after her funeral. It was 2 or 3 in the morning. We lived way out in the country. A car drove by, which was very unusual, especially for that time of night. Here's where it gets really weird. It stopped. It then turned up the stereo volume and played SUPER loud the song "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine...etc."

My sister's daughter was speechless for a few moments. Then she said "Mom used to sing that song to me all the time."

2. A month or two later I was out on the golf course with my husband and his friend. I suddenly had a feeling of de ja vu when seeing a big bird fly overhead. I told husband and his friend. My husband's friend got a strange look on his face and said..."I don't want to upset you, but this is the exact same spot where your husband and I were standing when you called to tell him of your sister's passing."

Weird and yet so comforting at the same time.

There is another story where something came out of the bushes (something very tall) in front of me when I was walking home alone at night in the countryside. It stopped on the road in front of me. I asked "Who are you?" No response. I took one step back and said again "Who are you:confused:". No response. But it took one step forward for my step back. This repeated with the step back by me and forward one by it one more time. I then turned and ran down the hill screaming like crazy to my friend's house.

That story likely was nothing supernatural but more likely a bear standing on it's hind legs or (even more scary) a human being. Nonetheless, it's the most frightening thing I ever experienced. My father sat out all night watching the field/forest to see if anything came out again. I didn't know that until later...he had tried to downplay it to me, lol.

I refused to walk home alone from my friend's house ever again at night! :D

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with “experiences”. I do sometimes wonder if it’s just our brains working in odd ways but they say some people “sense” things more than others. I swear my mother always did.

My first experience was when I was 18. My grandmother (whom I was named after) passed away in the late afternoon. That evening I woke up and she was standing by my bed. She was just a black figure (there was some light coming into the room from the hallway so I could see a little). It was definitely her - her shape was very distinctive. It was weird because it didn’t scare me. I looked for maybe 20 seconds or so and then she disappeared. I always believed she came to say goodbye.

My second experience was 5 years later when my dad died the day before my birthday. As I mentioned above, my mother always had the ability to “feel” things - and a few hours after he died she said “I can’t feel your father”. Apparently I replied “he’s with me” (I don’t remember the conversation....but my mother swears by it). Anyway the evening of his funeral, I was sitting with my boyfriend when I felt this very strange “whoosh” leave my body (think the movie “Ghost” when that black thing leaves the body...that’s how I’d describe it) and I started to cry. When my boyfriend asked if I was ok, I said “my father just left me”. THAT I remember very clearly...including exactly how it felt.

My last experience was 5 years after that. I’m married with a baby. My father in law was in the hospital, had just suffered a heart attack in the middle of the night and was being rushed into emergency surgery. While we waited for them to call us and let us know if he survived, I prayed and prayed...to God, my mother, my grandmother, my father....that it wasn’t fair that my son should have to grow up with both grandfathers dead. I told my father he owed me (having died around my birthday and all [emoji14]) to help let FIL pull through.

After the hospital called that he had made it through surgery, we all headed back to bed. Just as I was falling asleep I hear my father say as clear as day (and just as loud) “ok, will you get off my back now?”. I almost flew out of bed because the voice wasn’t in my head...it was out loud. I was sure it had woken DH, but he was sound asleep. It kinda creeped me out and frankly felt kinda blunt, but I think it’s probably what my father would have said. I WAS pretty upset with him for a long time.

I haven’t had another experience since then. Is it because they’re not there or because I can no longer sense them? Who knows. But I’m glad I had these as I became a strong believer there’s something more to us than skin and bones. I’ve believe we carry a lot of energy that goes somewhere when we die. And ghosts are just some of that energy that didn’t completely go away.

Not UFO related, but when I was much younger I dreamed about things before they happened. The one thing that stuck with me was dreaming of a trapezoid room with chalk boards on the long wall and the doors at each end of that wall and it had theater seating.

Some years later, I was attending the local university and had a class in the room I had dreamed about - it was in a building on campus that I had never been in before but my dream was accurate in every detail - even the color of the walls.

No, I didn't get a glimmer of the dot com bust or the derivatives debacle - those would have been nice to know about a year or so in advance...
