What were your pandemic purchases? Ours were E-bikes and an air fryer...Love both!....and of course lots of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. My dh talked me off the ledge on getting a Peleton.

I bought a Spade from Axle Glade for cleaning ears with a HD camera connected to my Apple phone. I have hearing aids and the biggest problem is wax buildup for the hearing aids to work correctly. It's hard to find someone professional in my area to clean ears. It also helped with the boredom for about 2 days.......

updated outdoor furniture, new sectional for living room, although both of these were bought recently and planned, so maybe they don't qualify!

Low cost non perishables in bulk. I have always purchased high cost non perishables in bulk when on sale but with the supply chain issues during covid it's been hard to get some of the lower cost ones. Currently diet root beer is nowhere to be found as well as DH's fave pancake syrup and the cats' favorite canned food. Fortunately we have a huge house to store the stuff when I find it :LOL::LOL:.

Road trip to the Dakotas and Wyoming.

Nothing special but I did buy a lot of extra TP.... Should have enough for the next pandemic.

My freedom! I FIREd in July. That allowed us time to purchase our first winter down south with our two cats.

A townhouse for my son and his family to move into. Bought it just before the housing boom started and prices went up significantly.

I didn't buy any "things", but did spend a lot on home improvement projects. We installed a channel drain and poured concrete slabs in our driveway. And we just built a new fence to give us some privacy from the new neighbors that built too close. I also bought a load of dirt to fill in some of the low spots around the yard.

Very early in the pandemic I bought a sauna kit. Took a while to arrive and install, but kept me busy. The purchase was driven by the pandemic, as sauna baths are proven to improve immune response. Heat was more effective than anything else in 1918.

DW wanted a screened porch (like about 99% of the US), and I wasn't sold on the idea. After outrageous quotes, we just ordered a hard top gazebo and extended the deck. Or should say are in the process of extending the deck. I'm solidly on board with this project since the rotted old deck boards made the house unsellable.

Here's what I bought:

January 2020: new Laz-y-Boy recliner, just before the pandemic which first appeared in New Orleans on March 9th.

September 2020: new high end Dell laptop computer.

January 2021: video game.

February 2021: new cable modem. Then I upgraded my Cox Cable internet to a higher speed version that the old modem wouldn't have been able to handle.

March 2021: 8 new and far more comfortable bras, and a mesh bag to wash them in.

March 2021: six amiibo cards for my Animal Crossing video game.

That's about it!

Looking at earlier posts in the thread, I can see that I got away cheap when it comes to pandemic purchases. Probably this was because (although I hated lockdown) I have been so genuinely happy in my Dream Home, living next door to the kindest, most brilliant, sweetest boyfriend and companion that anybody has ever had. Whoever thought that this would happen in old age, instead of during one's youth like in the movies?
:smitten:
So, I didn't need as much as the average person to cheer me up.

New tires and aluminum wheels for my Casita.

A new roof and new gutters.
Had the crawlspace sealed.

Too many books to mention (all used, online).

I bought many new curtains. It was a nice cheap way to get a new look, tweak the lighting, and get more privacy.

Oh, and bought some chromebooks, for me and then more as gifts when I discovered how fantastically adequate they are!

I bought a pool and complete back yard redo. I bought other things, but that's one that was specifically pandemic related.

My doctor told me some years ago, in order to keep my ears clear and prevent wax buildup, all I had to do was let water run into them every time I took a shower. Tilt head so as to let water sit in canal a few moments, then tilt head and let it run out. He gave me this advise after two physicals in a row, where he looked in and could not see ear drum because of wax.

I started doing that. Every physical since, doctor has no longer found any wax buildup obscuring his view of eardrums! So simple, and it works. And no need to ram in q-tips or gadgets and potentially hurt your ears yourself!

Spending more time at home, I splurged and bought a new easy chair. Most comfortable thing I've ever sat in, so it was well worth the big bucks.

Winix air filters, since we were self-quarantining. We bought one, and it was so good on removing dust and smells and smoke that we ended up with three. They clearly improved our stay-at-home experience, as our house is one of those 'air-tight' energy saving constructs.

Also we purchased two battery backups, one for a fridge to keep the frozen food in decent shape for a few hours, and one backup to support internet connectivity. [Inspired by pandemic supply chain glitches. we ended up with extra frozen food items.] After seeing their usefulness in power outages this summer, we might still add an even better backup battery, that can run microwaves.

R/C airplanes. Lots of R/C airplanes. And radio receivers and other electronics to go with them.
