What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I don't know if I posted this before, but if you enjoy dark humor,

"Adult Wednesday Williams" A well done short skit comedy by some independent filmmakers.
Here's a quote from Wednesday as she is on an apartment hunt. "My parents are despicable and I'm grateful for that, But I can't sleep in my childhood coffin forever, know what I mean?" Prospective roommate, "not really".

Here is the whole Season 1, 20 minutes long.
A search will find season 2.

Binge Watching The Tower, British Police Drama. Easy watch as it is a 3 part mini series. We think it is pretty good. On Britbox ..... I think.
Ditto. A good one. Also enjoying Shetland on BritBox.

Actually the later seasons of The Bill are also among my favorites along with Line of Duty and DCI Banks.

Also just finished "The Tower" last night. Watching the current season of Shetland as they drop new episodes. Also a fan of "Vera", though the latest season was too short. Also watching season 2 of "The Gulf" on Acorn.

Watched the last episode of “Line of Duty” Season 3 last night. Excellent series with top notch writing and acting.

Started "The Outlaws", and interesting comical take on British Community Service with a twist. Started off a little Ho Hum but perked up in subsequent episodes. We are starting to enjoy it.

I watched "The Long Call" on BritBox, a 4 part drama based on the book of the same name (the 1st of a new series) by Ann Cleeves (author of the Vera & Shetland books). I suspect that if you haven't read the book and like the Vera & Shetland series, you'll like The Long Call a lot. Good casting and acting, and lovely outdoor scenery in Devon, England. But I had read the book, which I found much better. There are characters and plotlines in the book that are completely absent from the TV adaptation. But I still enjoyed The Long Call despite these shortcomings.

I watched an engaging Swedish series on Netflix, "Young Royals". It's a coming-of-age series (6 episodes) about a teenage Swedish prince who gets into trouble and as a result, gets sent by his mother (the Queen) to a boarding school in the Swedish hinterlands.

An oldie but a goodie--Monarch of the Glen. A Scottish family is trying to save the family estate. Very funny and very Scottish, you will need captions. I think there are about 5 or 6 season It is free on Tubi TV.

Just finished S3 of Lost In Space (Netflix). 8-eps, IMO not as good as S1 or S2 but still worth watching. For those wondering...LIS is played straight unlike the TV series.

Just finished both seasons of "The Hot Zone" on Hulu. Season 1 is about ebola, season 2 is about anthrax. 1 follows a researcher at USAMRID, 2 follows an FBI agent.

Episode 1 of Joe Pickett last night. Thought it was great.

I don't think so, I wasn't even sure if it was or was not pay per view. Fortunately it is included at no extra charge. It was interesting to see that Paramount was shown in the opening scene. Didn't pay attention to that as it went by but the parent of Yellowstone is somehow involved. Heavy most recent episode there from this past Sunday.

I just started reading the CJ Box books on Pickett. I'll have to look for it if it comes to Paramount+ before my trial is over.

Well, now I know why the wait time for the local library's Joe Pickett books has increased so much in the past few months. :D

I'm in the middle of a Joe Pickett book at this very moment. Four people have died violently and Joe's life is in danger. And, it ain't over yet.

I think Joe must be related to Jessica Fletcher (Murder, She Wrote) since his presence anywhere demands that several people be murdered. Please Joe, don't visit me or my home town. In fact, stay out of my state!!!

Love the stories.

One of my favorites! seasons 1 and 2 are also on Pluto "on demand." We had watched the entire series by checking out DVDs from the library. I think of it as the Scottish version of Northern Exposure. Unfortunately, like NE, as actors move on and new characters take their places the quality diminishes. The first few seasons are a riot, though.

I researched some this morning. Apparently it will show on Paramount+. But in an unknown timeframe at some point after the full season has finished on Spectrum. Guess I’ll have to wait and then invest in a subscription to Paramount. At least then you can binge watch since all episodes will have been released.

Watched the trailer. This episode seems to be based on C.J. Fox's first book in the series.

The actor that plays Joe Pickett is very good. Michael Dorman was most recently seen in Apple TV's "For All Mankind" and Amazon Prime's "Patriot". He also played a slimy lawyer in the movie "The Invisible Man."

When this gets to Paramount+ I will watch it for sure.

Yes, it’s based on the first book in the series, Open Season. The review I read was very favorable. Says it stays true to the book closely. Guess it won’t have Nate in it yet, since his character isn’t introduced until roughly 3 books into the series. Still, it should be great. The review I read referred to Longmire as a good comparison in terms of book adaptation for tv series.

Watching the Vanity Fair's "Breakdown" series on YouTube. All free and some really nice videos. They ask an expert in the field to look at famous movies and provide commentary on some of the notable clips in the movie.

The Split Series 1 and 2. Different spin on a Brit show with Nicola Walker. Divorce lawyer show, everyone's got baggage. Quite watchable.

Liked this.
Also liked on Tubi:
McCleod's Daughters - Daughters have to make a go of it on remote Australian cattle ranch.
Heartbeat - Cop and doctor marry and move to British countryside.
Detectorists - British. Working stiffs hope to get rich metal detecting in their spare time. I like this very much.
The Alice - Quirky people have strange experiences in Alice Springs.

Time Team - Archeology reality series. Team using advanced archeological techniques have a weekend to solve the mysteries of each site. Liked it much but there is only one season on Tubi and I can't figure out where to buy the rest of the seasons (there are at least 8).

Enjoying British Unforgotten and Wallander on DVDs from the library.

These sound great. I will check them out. I have gotten tired of so many American shows with violence and vulgarity. Tubi is a great free resource. There are commercials but I use that time to go to the bathroom, etc.
