Exterior grade, not real pretty, but top will be laminated and all other sides painted with oil base enamel. Oh and I'm replacing all the rusted out steel deck screws used before on the "looks like new" stainless steel piano hinge with proper SS screws.

Yeah, you have to wonder about some people...

Applied the first coat of paint at dawn on the remaining part of the screened-in back porch that I didn't paint last week. This gives the paint a while to set up and dry a bit before the direct sunlight hits it. The next coat will be tomorrow morning. This hurts; I am NOT a morning person.

I started to repair the bike here and discovered the son had purchased 26" tubes for a 27" wheel. Off we go to return some stuff to Wickes, and to the bike and car shop for a tube. I gave them the 26" ones for donation as the receipts were long gone.
I showed the host how to properly install bike tubes, got it together and adjusted and took it out for a short ride. It is just a little hairy to ride on the wrong side of narrow roads that you do not know and my phone failed me as far as assisting me to a park with nice (safe) paths, so I came back. It was a good deal because I have been off my bike for a long time and it started the process.

I had one happy day today. Got the results of my prostate biopsy and it was negative. The prior MRI was indicating a good chance of cancer and possibly leading to the invasive kind.
Also was able to play Pickleball today for the first time in 8 days.

That is great!

Went to ranch again today and finished up rebuilding the corral and did some more work on the lean-to. I moved some more large pieces of scrape iron that needs to be hauled to town to sell. The other day I tore apart an old heavy hay rake that needs to go also.

I had lunch there and hiked up in the hills and looked for a spot to hang a tree stand or set-up for a blind. Got the SD cards from the camera's and headed home.

Started out the day as Saturday usual - little dog and I had our daily neighborhood walk (still must go before 8am due to heat) and our weekly trip to the farmers market. I enjoyed Austin FC's massive victory over LAFC last night so much that I decided to watch an EPL match and lucked out as Arsenal (DS's favorite EPL club) was on. Very entertaining match, and I texted with him a few times so that was also fun, and I got several rows knitted on the socks I'm knitting for DD. After lunch, I don't know what got into me, but I decided to clean out the bathroom cabinets. Wow. I knew it was a long-overdue chore but it was even worse than I expected. Probably half of the contents were long expired or otherwise bound for the trash bin. They now look mostly empty.

PSA - if you have expired COVID tests, check this website FDA COVID Test information as many expiration dates have been extended. All of ours that had older expiration dates have been extended and are still valid.

I did another hour of riding, then we hung about in the garden and visited, and played more cards.

I've been working out at PF for about 6 weeks now, 3 days a week. A few days ago I after watching some videos, I decided I wanted to do pullups. I made some wood brackets to hold a 3ft bar. And, NOPE, nada, no way, I can't even do one. So, not to be deterred, I put collars on a pvc pipe that fit over the bar to act as roller, put on a belt tied a rope to the belt threw the rope over the pvc roller, I tied a weight on the other end, that didn't work the weight is to close to my body to work with. To make it short, I'm on my 3rd iteration, I had to modify a second flat wooded pulley by cutting a groove in it with my mill. Making a holder for the weight now. What I have found it that with 35lbs of weight I can do 2 maybe 3 pullups. I need 5 more lbs, but I only have a stack 35lbs that someone threw away a week ago and my wife picked up. I'll get there!

PS. I'm 67yr old, at least I'm thinking about pullups!

You could try using resistance bands to assist when doing pullups.

I'm coming to the end of a cross country road trip from Colorado to Georgia. It didn't exactly go as planned. The first evening I had a sore throat. That turned into a bad cold the next day. I kept driving each day but at a bit slower pace. I am over the cold and about three hours from my sister's place. I'll be there tomorrow and get to help her pack and move to Birmingham where she will be much closer to her daughter.

For the first time in while, slept in late for a Saturday, did not get get out of bed until 10 (driving 8 hours on Thursday to attend a funeral and then visiting folks on Friday wore me out). I still managed to get some yardwork (mowing) and inside work (caulking and lighting repairs/improvements) done.

This evening we went to a "street fair" at a nearby town that promised food trucks and live entertainment. Unfortunately there were no real food trucks, just some of the restaurants taking orders outside, and one ice cream/ices truck. Th entertainment was one forlorn acoustic guitar player you had to be standing next to to hear. So we left early.

On the way home, DW had a hankering for chocolate wine, so we stopped at a liquor store. We saw the brand we usually both, but it was next to a different one than was more of a "cream" wine (like a chocolate irish creme). We debated for 15 seconds which one to get until "DUH! you can afford both!" finally slapped me across the head. So it was BTD time . At the rate we drink wine, the bottles will last us through Thanksgiving.

Went out to the boat and drilled out all the lid holes and glued in quarter inch hardwood dowels. Came home and put another coat of enamel on the lid.

Left the house in care of our Real Estate Agent for an open house today.
12 lookers he said, and another tomorrow, plus a second look from someone that came by today. Place went on the market 2 days ago.
I am all but retired. Work is dead slow and I just need to tell my clients I am done, and the plug is pulled.

We're moving, but not to Montana.
I don't wanna be a dental floss tycoon.

+1 for the Zappa reference.
Our host's son came by with groceries which is a weekly ritual. We had a brunch with him and now we're settling that.
I'll take a short ride in a bit and then get packed for the trip home tomorrow.

Started day with one of last 2 hikes before heading off to England. Tomorrow is last one. I've asked that kids to hike with Koda while I'm gone.

Doing 2 loads of laundry (1st one is already hung outside to dry), packing, reorganizing fridge (DD staying here with 16F & Koda and she eats differently ---- she's not a vegetarian but will go through all my butter), then checking in for my flight tomorrow. Hope it goes. Saturday they took off 1/2 hr late. Yesterday they boarded. Sat on tarmac then got off. Ugh

We switched places, Gayl.
Today we started in Crewe at 4 AM, and got into Seattle 15 hours later at 11 AM local time. It was a quick connection at LHR and we were worried but we made it OK. It was odd to take a bus from the arrival there to the gate, and from the gate to the international flight too. Now I'm drinking coffee and staying awake to get turned around.

Painted up the aluminum angle for the the front of the lid, installed the hinge on the rear and then the front face all with SS screws. Laminate looks great!

Now just need to cut some spacer blocks from plywood scraps to prop it up nice while I drill the pilots and it should go in easy when I go to the boat and install it.

Went to Harbor Freight, bought a winch. Mounted it to the garage ceiling. Now I can remove, install my Jeep top without manual labor.

It's only 8:13 AM here in New Orleans, but I am up and waiting for the AC repair guys. In the heat. Ugh!! It is so hot in here. Can't wait for them to get this fixed. Of course they gave me no particular time when they'd show up; they'll call. :(

I think they just need to blow it out, but they'll probably charge me for everything possible. I'll let you know what it costs, in the spirit of keeping track of inflation. :(

That’s a real nightmare. Hope your A/C is repaired quickly and inexpensively

Hope it is something simple and relatively inexpensive. Sadly "relatively inexpensive" these days is still several hundred dollars!

Thanks. Me, too. Temperature outside has gone up to 84F. It's probably the same in here since I turned the AC off (wasn't doing any good anyway).

I think you're right. Frank said, "Surely it won't be over $200!". I responded, "Well, it's 2022 and everything is going up in price." Luckily I can afford it but I think they are going to charge me an arm and a leg.

They just called and they are coming here sometime between 12 and 2. So, 3-5 more hours.
