2022 Tax Program Deals

I recall that there were some unofficial sites selling TT at steep discounts. No way I’d download software onto my computer from such an unofficial reseller. Begs to be hacked.

I think in the case I mentioned above, it was bought through Amazon, but I could be wrong...(even then I'm careful) But I agree, I wouldn't intentionally buy software from some "unknown", especially these days.

I had no idea that so many folks really spend so much time looking for and/or waiting to buy something like this just to save 10 or 15 bucks (+ or -) on a once a year purchase.

Actually, with the community that this forum creates, I don’t spend much time at all. I spend time reading the forum anyway so I don’t think following this thread takes additional time. As for waiting to buy it, that has some merit, but there’s no doubt that I’d purchase it at whatever cost if I needed it or, even just wanted it for some reason.

Then, as others have said, there is a degree of fun in it. I like getting a good deal, even if small savings. But, I won’t work too hard for a few bucks. Thankfully, it’s so much easier to bargain hunt now that practically everything is online. There’s no way I’d shop for something like TT if it meant me driving from store to store.

Just purchased TT Premier from Amazon with their new updated black friday prices. List price was $89, but I got it for $72 incl. sales tax. This includes state. I do 4 tax returns, Ours, each son, and my MIL.

May end up springing for michigan state - MIL's taxes have been easy in the past but DH sold a bunch of aged out bonds for her last year (he's the conservator) and I'll have to see how much that changes her state tax filings.

+1

I even go so far as to make sure the download from a real regular retailer (legit) goes to HR block for the actual download.

Years ago, my download was from some other site, so I went to HR block and downloaded the real file, and then used my code to unlock it.

For the past 10 years or so, I have found that Amazon has good deals on Turbotax between Christmas and New Year's. I get the Deluxe version with one state included, and it's always $39.95 plus sales tax.

But, given the inflation rate this year, I would not be surprised if it was more. :banghead:

Right now it's $55.99 .
Right now (Black Friday), it's $45.99.

Hmph. I guess I'll wait until the week between Christmas and New Year's.

The TT Amazon deal deal with the $10 gift card is usually the day after Thanksgiving but last year it was a week late IIRC. I'm also anxiously waiting for it to pop up this year.

I hope we can get do better than $45.99 with no gift card. :( I mean, I know inflation affects businesses too, but gosh.

I’m not in a hurry. I usually wait to see what Fidelity does and that’s not until Dec 15. Usually by then Amazon and Costco have their best prices - or shortly thereafter. We can’t run the software anyway until March because our 1099s aren’t completed until then.

The What-if form in TT 2021 can be used for estimating 2022 taxes if needed before that time.

I did it too, for $73 and 5% cash back with Discover credit card at Amazon.

Sure if my broker gave it away for free, I'd take it too but I'm not going to call them asking for a deal or wait to see if they offer one. Now, if I thought I could save 10, 20 or 30% on a car, sure I'd shop around or maybe even wait "a short period of time", but for a once year $40 to $70 purchase. :nonono: I'd rather use that time for another nap. :)

But, whatever floats your boat.

Same mindset that got me to retire at 47 despite some very expensive life detours. I also walk right past an item at the supermarket that costs $2 when it should be $1.20 even though it’s “only 80 cents”. I view % more than absolute dollars and in general am a bit of an optimizer and efficiency excites me. I expect many in our community are similarly wired.

FWIW I decided not to jump on the Black Friday software deals and will try FreeTaxUSA first. If I hate it I’ll find another deal.

This morning, Amazon has the TT deluxe disc + $10 gift card for $45.99. I wonder if this is IT?

I believe you mean the day after Christmas or so. It is the best deal around and surpasses the Black Friday deals.

Last year, it was Dec 29.

(looked at my history on Amazon and confirmed the dates last 4 years)

Well now I'm doubting myself. This may be IT. Inflation and all.

Starting to wonder if they do the disc version on "Cyber Monday" and the download between Christmas and New Years.

^^^ To clarify, there is a disc and a download version (with $10 gift card) today for the $45.99 price. I personally get the disc version so that my Windows sister can also use it (I am Mac).

It specifically says the price is for the 26th of Nov, so, I don't know what I am going to do. LOL

Yes, even though it says "Cyber Monday" deal, it expires late today.

If I recall correctly, the best deals for disc and download match, i.e. download is never cheaper. Kind of weird, but that's the way it is.

I'm going to assume this bump up in price is AMZN/Intuit's best deal. If one really wants the disc, they should jump on this: as long as you are OK with buying the $10 AMZN gift card you can redeem back to yourself.

I go back and forth between disc and download. I'm personally going to get this deal after I press "Submit Reply" below.

One update on the order of this deal: Amazon will require you pay for this all with a payment method other than gift card balance.

This may not matter to a lot of people. It matters a bit to me since I do most of my Amazon purchases with gift card money I get as a bonus for platelet donations.

Last year, it would split it out and let you buy the Turbotax with your balance, and force you to buy the gift card with credit. Makes sense, they don't want you buying gift cards with gift cards.

I saw no way to split it out this year.

Yeah, I assumed that this is IT or close enought to IT that I decided to take the leap.

Frustrating though in that when I launch TT if wants me to input my my license code but the license code input field won't allow me to either input the license code from my keyboard or to paste it into the field so I'm stuck... and of course TT support is closed for the weekend.

I assume this is at least close to the best deal so I went ahead and got it. $36 is a good deal for Deluxe /w State.

Yeah, I will go ahead and tell me sister to get it (its her turn this year).

I had to order the download instead of the disc because it kept charging me shipping even when I picked "free shipping". (I don't have prime). Not sure how that happened as there was nothing else in the cart but I just woke up so maybe it is me. Good deal overall. Usually I do not buy until after Christmas so I wonder if it will get better.

I'm theorizing this will be the deal this year, even after Christmas, because people are comparing last year's black friday deals to last year, and they are also $6 more than last year.
