What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I just finished “ Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency” on Hulu.

Based on books of the same name by Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy). Even though he’s not involved with this series, it’s true to his writing and concepts. It is a weird 18 episode series, definitely off the beaten path of TV series. Highly recommended for Douglas Adams fans.

We finished The Diplomat last night and enjoyed it. Glad there is a season 2 since it ended on a cliffhanger.

We really liked the Night Agent on Nexflix too.

I'm working on the first season of Pickett. So far the TV version seems reasonably true to the books, though the TV does tend to emphasis the darker side of Pickett too much, IMHO. But at least they haven't turned him into the usual dysfunctional TV lawman who is an addict, cheats on his spouse, and ignores his kids. I do wish they did not end every episode with a cliffhanger. That is getting old fast.

I have also been watching The Diplomat. I enjoy it but the nearly constant use of the F-word as an adjective to describe anything from a tasty crumpet to the risk of nuclear war. They need to show some creativity when it comes to writing dialog. And like Pickett, they are overdoing the cliffhangers. Like salt and pepper, overuse ruins the final product.

I've just started watching Season 2 of Evil on Paramount+. I really enjoyed Season 1 a few years ago, and just today, I realized that Evil was created by the same couple who made Good Wife and Good Fight. I love Good Wife and I liked Good Fight. No wonder I like Evil!

I've been watching Netflix's new personal finance show How to Get Rich. The show is misnamed - it's more like Personal Finance 101. That said, it's mostly inoffensive although a tad lightweight.

I have a relative who fell for a MLM scam. She told me that she was going to make $20k / month without doing any work. I just laughed. She ended up losing money (don't know how much). One of the episodes on the show deals with MLM schemes.

I guess being a successful influencer these days requires being earnest and energetic - the show's host Ramit Sethi qualifies.

Rabbit/Hole definitely scratches the itch for 24 fans.

There are connections. Jon Cassar directs episode 4, for example. Cassar was huge for 24, but he kind of let it go too long. With some time off, it is nice to see him direct again.

Yes, Keifer's whisper is a trademark. Captions are mandatory. [emoji23]

I'm through episode 6 out of 8. It seems the writers have been commissioned to put in at least three or four plot twists per episode and leave you with a humdinger of a twist at the end of each episode.

As I was watching episode 1 my thoughts were this show is like "Leverage", no, it's like "Person of Interest", no it's like "Mission Impossible".

Speaking of 24 connections, the first line of dialogue that Kiefer Sutherland speaks is "Damn it!", something he said about a billion times in the 10 seasons of 24.

I am enjoying the show but to hearken back to a complaint that you have about the lack of lighting on many shows these days, Rabbit/Hole is one of the worst offenders in this category. Almost all indoor scenes are in rooms that apparently don't have any lights in them or else the windows are tinted to prevent any natural light to enter the room.

Not only are 95% of the scenes under lit but those scenes that do have some lighting are composed of people being backlit. For example, characters standing in an unnaturally dark room in front of a window. Or characters positioned in a room so that the 15 watt light bulbs that are barely lighting the room are positioned behind them.

Started "The Great" Season 3. Definitely NOT for everyone, way too much bad language and gratuitous sex (even for us). I am sure it includes all 7 words you cannot say on TV. A bit less violent than previous seasons. But it is hilariously funny in places that kinda makes up for it. Not for the feign of heart that's for shure. I can actually imagine it being like this in that era.

I stumbled on this last night on Hulu, while looking for something else.

I watched a few scenes, and it looked like an absolute hoot! I added it to my queue. I agree it's not for everyone, but none of that stuff bothers me.

Just finished S1 of Citadel (Prime Video). I had high hopes for this series it I now find myself frying to think of something polite and positive to say about it but coming up way short. No likeable characters. So many time shifts I think I have permanent whiplash. Not planning to watch S2.

Binged FUBAR today and I enjoyed it. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in his first scripted TV show at age 75.

I just finished Citadel. I thought it started out pretty good but I got bored of it by the end.

I tried watching the first episode but bailed out after about ten minutes. Sounds like it didn’t get better.

Finished the last season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Fast-moving comedy, very well written. It takes you back to the 1950s to the present day in the life of a female comedian trying to make it big.

I just finished White Lotus. I doubt if I will bother with season 2. It is filled with self-centered obnoxious people, who live screwed up lives, and do depraved nasty things to each other. I did not understand it.

Amazon poured like $300-400 million into Citadel.

They're in it for the long haul, second season already confirmed.

I felt the same way about White Lotus. Also not bothering with the second season.

I do like Succession which also is filled with self-centered obnoxious rich people.
I think the difference is the actors are really good in Succession and I find a few just fascinating.
That did not happen with white lotus. [emoji2370]

Second season of white lotus was better than the first IMO. Plus it's set in Sicily, which is one of my happy places.

DW and I barely got through the second episode of Season 1. Others obviously disagree based on the hype in the media about this show, but it wasn't for us.

We finished several shows we've been watching and have run out of stuff that interests us for now (with the exception of the last episode of Ted Lasso due out next week). So it's re-run season, by choice. I'm watching Detectorists for probably the fourth time. We really liked Bad Sisters on Apple TV+ so we decided to watch it again, which is interesting since we know the ending and we're having fun picking out stuff we missed the first time.

Perhaps I will try watching the first episode of season 2 with a bottle of Nero d’Avila next to me. But, if its not better than season 1, even a bottle per episode may not be enough.

I think season 2 was better, but still creepy - even creepier. However the setting is incredible. Season 1 the setting was very blah IMO.

If you like nature shows, "Mamas" on the Roku Channel is wonderful! We've only watched the first one so far, but we are hooked - really amazing video and narration.

We watched The Diplomat, but probably won’t watch another season. We were very hopeful at first that it was going to be very good, but tired of it by the end.
