Prime Day disappointment

I find Prime Day just as satisfying and fun as Black Friday sales. /s

Just bought a SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A8 10.5” 128GB Android Tablet for $179.00 through Amazon Prime offer. It has been $279.00 on Amazon and BestBuy.

I may take advantage of the Audible 3 months free offer. I don’t know if it’s a targeted offer. I don’t listen to audiobooks except on very long road trips. It’s been a couple years now and I have a long road trip coming up. I find choosing the books challenging.

I got stars again...99 cents for 2 months I'll catch up on some scottish porn (outlander)

I just did the same thing.

Not this year from my own cursory review. I had a few SSDs on my save for later list and none of the prices are any different from a week ago. Additionally, I've purchased a few micro-SD cards over the past few weeks, and likewise, prices are the same.

Actually, I just checked again and they have lowered the price on the Samsung 1TB SSD - now $40.38 and the Lexar 512GB is $17.99, both down a few dollars.

I noticed they'd lower stuff that I'm browsing. I part me of feels like I'm being hustled by a used car dealer .

We're going to get a few of them - have plenty of Digital Credits to cover it. Basically free.

Prime Day seemingly is like how Black Friday sales used to be. I learned, many years ago, that Black Friday deals were replicated often. I presume the same goes for Prime sales.

They sent me a $10 coupon code, but there is nothing that grabs me in the offers. Lame.

They're rarely going to put on sale the one thing you're looking for, but there will be many things that you "didn't know you needed" that may hit your radar. One tool I use is Keepa. It's a price tracking extension for Chrome. I set a trigger price, and it will email me when the price drops that low. I got a notification just this morning. Another benefit is you can see what the price has historically been. The prices can swing wildly on Amazon - something that normally costs $80 may suddenly be $120...which might not look bad, if you didn't know it normally goes for $80!
https://camelcamelcamel.com/ is a web site that is not browser dependent, does basically the same thing.

Amazon is, for me, a very convenient vendor, but nothing more. Lately I have been branching out to walmart.com and homedepot.com. Like all sellers these guys are struggling with how to create loyalty while not getting killed on free shipping costs. I compare prices and whatever today's game is, then buy or not.

I have several items in my "save for later" to see if prices go down. Lately, all I get are notices that "certain items pricing is changing", and it's always higher! A ruse to get me to buy today, not working for me. Some I can find cheaper elsewhere, so will go there.
I used Amazon a lot during the pandemic, less so now.

Like every other type of sale event, it will be hit or miss. I keep am Amazon wish list of interesting-but-not-urgent items in my wish list. Every year a few of them (or similar items) end up as prime day deals, and I purchase them.

I find Amazon's incredibly easy returns to be a bigger benefit at times than the price.

I picked up a carbon monoxide detector and a universal plug for travel which I was looking for anyway and one was 41% off today the other was 20%. If I find my universal plug I'll return this one.

I just bought some diaper genie type pails (for emptying cat box for kitties). 15% off Prime Deal.

Not happy with Prime Day deals either.
Wanted to order a router : TP-Link AX5400 Dual-Band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router (Archer AX73)
Prime day deal was $139.95+Tax+Free Shipping with a Prime Membership, so
Purchased directly from TP-Link for $134.99 TAX FREE plus FREE Shipping.

Saved $5 + Tax and no hassles of canceling a trial Prime Membership. :)

OK, that's a deal. I just bought an A6 for about the same amount on BestBuy.com.

Inspired by this thread, I just went to Amazon and started scrolling through the Prime Day deals.

It all looks like future landfill to me. Maybe that's a sign that yes, I really AM growing older. Anyway, I didn't want anything when I went there, and still didn't want anything after spending a while looking at deals offered.

On the bright side, it's nice to know that I already have everything I want. :D

Funny you should say that W2R. I often think the same thing when I see these online "deals", and especially for the whole raft of products that Amazon is offering me on Prime days. I'm fairly sure that many folk would look at some of the stuff I buy, and think the same, but at least it's stuff that I really want, and will get good use and enjoyment from. When someone is cleaning out my place in the (hopefully distant) future, I'm sure they'll look at a lot of it and wonder, "What was he THINKING?"

I bought 3 things today but it had nothing to do with Prime Day. Amazon knows from my browsing what I am in the market for but never follows through with a deal except trying to redirect me to a similar product. I quit looking at the Prime Day deals a few years ago. If someone at RE mentions a good item with a good deal I might impulse buy but my impulse buys are mainly unrelated to AMZ deals or ads.

I usually check out the gift cards. I'll probably get the one from Chipotle.

I'm disappointed a bit. I did get $30 off the cat tree that I've been holding in my Save For Later cart, and a nice price on a small narrow table for my entryway. But none of the crafting supplies I want have a prime deal but I bought them anyway because of getting the extra percents back in points on the credit card.

Hmm.. Not unlike the street markets in 3rd world countries. eh?

I am probably in the minority, but I never have liked Amazon. Their search function is bad, the fake reviews, the ads that follow you everywhere for anything you’ve searched and pricing is never the best.
My wife uses it for buying a few things, I don’t.

Some of their prices are pretty bad. I wanted a bottle opener thingy - 12.53 on Amz and about $8 including shipping where I got it. But I do a ton of ebooks so can't complain. (Kindle Unlimited is easy to find on sale).

Ahhhhh, yes (except "she").
