NCAA College Football Playoffs

IT's ALL about the money now. No way a team with record that UGA has had the last 2 years should go from being ranked #1 down to ranked out of the top 4. Especially since only losing by 3 points. The fix was in from the start. The committee had them ranked low from the 1st of the season. The only way Texas moved up so fast is because OIL money bought them a team!!!!

Yeah, I think Georgia got screwed more than FSU did and Alabama benefitted. A 3 point loss to a topped ranked team doesn't deserve a 4vspot drop. Ohio State didn't drop near that much when it lost to Michigan.

Is FSU better than Alabama or Georgia? That's a close call but I think not.

BTW, UT has its own oil field production in south Texas. I've done projects in their fields in years past.

It's the grandchildren, not the weather in Dec-Feb!
Our only child moved to Central Texas back in 2016 (job-related), who immediately started pitching a move for us. We did in the fall of 2018.

I guess we should be grateful. Many kids move away from their parents because they *want* to be away from them.

Georgia not in the final 4:confused::confused:??/. Remember the FG attempt hit the up right!!!!!!!!

they were #1 all year and because a kick hit the up right they are suddenly not in the playoff..............really?

Texas lost to Oklahoma recently..............Washington played a weak schedule.

I think the committee tried their best just to get new blood into the playoffs.

No Jordan Travis will not be back by post season. It was a compound fracture. - broken leg.

Whether fair or not, right now FSU is likely not one of the 4 best teams and Alabama will be a more entertaining and competitive team to watch.

Agree, and I'm an FSU fan. Their defense played a full game for the first time this season against Louisville. They had problems with consistency all year, but managed to win, and that is something. But, they were the best team in a weak conference.

OTOH, Bama got better after the loss to UT and made it through the SEC grinder. Won't be surprised if they are in the final.

If I was an FSU fan, I would be pretty upset right now. But I do think the committee got it right by excluding them.

FSU will have a chance to prove the committee was wrong when they play GA.

I don't think they will. I expect a lopsided GA win.

Yes, perhaps and yes. It's the grandchildren, not the weather in Dec-Feb!

It doesn’t hurt that Texas is also an income tax free state. But, watch out for that property tax!

Back on topic…. I haven’t yet forgiven the UW for what they helped to the PAC 10.

Sometimes I think the college teams should become official farm clubs for the NFL.

+1 I'm rooting for Texas because we have family in Austin and will likely be relocating there and I'm rooting for Alabama because I'm not a Harbaugh fan (not a Saban fan either but lesser of two evils).

That said, Michigan looks really strong to me as does Texas. Haven't seen much of Washington.

Was anyone else other than me surprised that Georgia, two time defending chanpion and #1 ranked the whole season went from 1 to 5 because of one loss?

I think 2 precedents were broken: undefeated Power Five champion never excluded and season long #1 losing in championship game never excluded.

But hard to keep out Texas given best regular season win and strength of schedule. But they also had worst loss and several close wins against unranked teams.

And Bama is SEC champ with best playoff win and only loss to a conference champion.

They needed more slots.

The "best" 4 teams are (in no particular order)
Michigan, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama.

All four would be favored over any other team.

Since Georgia and Ohio State are out, the NFL draft prospects will likely sit out of their meaningless bowl games.

Really? Washington had the 8th toughest schedule and Georgia the 45th Like it was already mentioned, this weekend was a defacto quarter-final. Kind of like the Dodgers losing in the first round

Let’s go Huskies!

Washington has been a bit under the radar if that is possible for a team that beat Oregon twice and vanquished Oregon State.

I like them. Will be interesting to see how they fare.

Early lines have GA a 13.5 pt favorite over FSU in the Orange Bowl. So nobody but FSU fans really think they are a top 4 team right now.

OK, some perspective....

Florida State... barely beat Boston College.. by 2 points
beat Clemson in OT
beat Miami by 7

Not great teams and this was with their star quarterback...

Their freshman QB passed for a total of 55 (yes FIFTY FIVE) yards in the game....

Alabama barely beat Auburn by 3
Arkansas by 3
Texas A&M by 6...

Not great teams...

And they LOST to Texas by 10... (which is a larger loss than what Texas lost to OK)

Texas barely beat Houston by 7
Kansas State by 3 in OT
TCU by 3...

Two bad and an OK team...

Lost to OK by 6 at the very end of the game... with 15 secs to go...

I have not looked at Georgia... but I do think it makes a difference if you cannot win your conference championship... they should have known it was the first playoff game...

Did a quick look at Ohio State... lost by 6... but never led in the game... I did watch and from what I remember Michigan was a better looking team...

No matter how it goes, SOMEONE will have a good argument that their team was better, deserved it more, etc. etc... but IMO if the goal was to pick the 4 best teams AT THE END OF THE SEASON they got it right... FS is not one of them.. Georgia, Ohio State are better... maybe Oregon and Oklahoma are... just saw that Penn State is up there...

I'll surprise y'all at some point.

Some help:

A glossary of words and phrases only Texans understand

“Coke” is any carbonated beverage, not specifically coca-cola. ...

“Bless your heart” is an expression used to show pity. ...

“Fixin' to” means about to. ...

“Git-R-Done” means get it done. ...

“Gonna” means going to. ...

“Howdy” means hello. ...

“Reckon” means think.

There's a lot more than this, too......:D

......

Sometimes I think the college teams should become official farm clubs for the NFL.
And the NFL should pay for them, not the other students or the state taxpayers. A similar thing should happen with big time college basketball. There is no reason the three highest paid state employees in the State of Connecticut should be the UConn men's and women's basketball coaches and the football coach.

They seem to vary what they emphasize. Texas won their conference championship, yes. They beat a team that lost to South Alabama.

No playoff team had an easier opponent than Texas. And Texas also has the worst loss. They had the 2nd best win but it came very early, when Alabama had not settled on a QB.

Georgia did not win their championship but they faced arguably the toughest opponent. Who they faced matters more than win or lose in my opinion.

If it is 4 best teams, Ga should be in.

If it is undefeated conference championship winners, FSU should be in.
