Aging and guardianship

So does anyone know if there are still states with very weak or zero protections where the same thing could easily happen as it did in Nevada (before they changed their laws?)

I've heard about abuse cases in Florida back at the time of the Nevada case mentioned. But I don't know if there are any new protections in recent years.
