For a while now (couple years, at least) I've noticed that we don't watch nearly as much stuff on Amazon Prime as we do on Netflix or HBO Max. And until last night, I wasn't entirely sure why. But as I was scrolling through the "My Stuff" section in Prime, it suddenly dawned on me. There was a lot of interesting content in there--movies and shows that I'd added over the months and years. The problem is that a good 50%, or more, of the things listed in My Stuff is no longer available for free! It seems like Amazon is FAR worse than Netflix or HBO at keeping the rights to movies and shows that it features on Prime Video. The situation is bad enough that I actually think Prime Video is barely even worth considering when it comes to determining the value of our Prime subscription. If Netflix is a good (or reasonable) value at $15/month, I think it would be a stretch to say that Prime Video is worth even $5/month. If I could sever Prime Video from our Prime subscription and save $60/year, I'm pretty sure I'd do it. What say you?
