Automobile trunk dimensions

I'm looking to buy a new car or a new used car!


Anyway the dimensions of the trunk are very important to me but I can't seem to find this info anywhere.

I can find "cargo space" but that does not help me much I really want to know the depth of the trunk!

Right now I'm leaning toward an Accord or a Camry but I'm really not sure yet.

Just wondering if anyone knew where to find the trunk dimensions for cars?

I must have spent 4 hours looking for this information and I can't find it anywhere!

In the showroom, with a tape measure? I don't think I've ever seen these dimensions published anywhere.

On my desk are brochures on three cars I've been looking at (Prius, Matrix, Civic) and they all provide Cargo Capacity in m2 or cubic feet, but the dimensions are not listed.

If there is something specific you carry, take it and try it. Dimensions don't mean that much.

The trunk in my S40 Volvo is reasonably sized for a small car, decent HxWxD but the trunk lid is pretty short. Even a medium sized box just won't get in there. Same with the rear doors, they are angled enough that stuff that you would assume would slide right in just won't. I first realized this as I sat in a parking lot, taking my purchase out of the box so I could get it in the car and fold the box down....

But the seats fold down and open to the trunk, so I can carry 8' lumber or XC skis no problem, because they are long and skinny.

Go join the forum of the car your interested in and i'm sure some one will run out to their car and take the measurement,or just bring a tape measure to the dealers.

For me it depends on what I'm hauling. When I was looking for a used car to get me to the golf course I took my golf clubs along and that was the first thing I checked. No sense doing a trial run if the clubs didn't fit. Ended up buying an older Ford Escort because the clubs fit just right. That was number one. Then I drove the car, nice condition but it was a five speed manual transmission. Bought it anyway. That was five years ago and I still have it.

I guess that is the only way to find out is to just go and measure the trunk yourself. Or ask someone that has that car that you want to know about.

I thought with all of the stats on cars that surely this would be listed somewhere but I guess not.

I'd call the dealerships, seriously. It is not like the salesmen are so busy they can't help these days.
