Class of 2022

Awra best to the Class of 2022. I hope we have a guid new year and graduate from this class as planned. :D

Re-ran all the numbers over the holidays and June is looking good. I am waiting till I get my 2021 bonus and will then start talking with management about my exit.
 
And I just found out we'll be virtual through my end date - though I will need to be onsite with my replacement the week of Jan 18th (Monday is a holiday - so just 4 days onsite).

That's a relief as I though I was going to have to be in person next week too but that's not the case. My commute isn't the worst in the world but at 45 minutes each way it isn't fun either.
 
I am off for the next few days but I have 15 working days left and I am thrilled. We are still remote but they moved me to a fancy new office so I will want to see it before I leave. Since I announced, another person on my team announced their retirement (expected as she is turning 65 this year). Another one is waiting until I get back from my vacation/daughter's wedding. Lastly, one of my peers (also a manager) gave her notice yesterday. Should be an interesting last few weeks for sure! I hit my bonus milestone date so now it is all down hill

I know the feeling even though my megacorp has been pretty progressive with the remote work. Earliest back to office routine for us was supposed to be today but it got extended.

I also know this feeling. :LOL:
We normally get our bonus paid out late Feb/early Mar so that was a key date for me. However, I found out that since I completed 2021 on the payroll, I'm entitled to the 2021 bonus even if I leave before it's normally paid out. I'm not intending to leave earlier knowing that as there are a few other milestones/payouts I'm trying to hit but it's nice to exhale a bit since the bonus is a nice chunk of change.
 
Congratulations, all you flying early in 2022! It's interesting reading about FIRE in the time of remote work. I'm trying to glean whether there are differences in pathways and attitudes towards this milestone, but I can't really separate out any at this point. Maybe I'll start a separate thread.

Enjoy the anticipation, and then the days after!
 
Pellice, to be honest I always thought if I could work remotely then I'd continue working as it would get rid of the commute and the annoyances of office life.

However, working remotely during the pandemic just clarified for me that I don't want to work at all. Just don't want my head to full of work deadlines when I could be curling up for a nap, or reading a book, instead. I'm just ready to do what I want, when I want. That was a surprising revelation to myself and crystallized my FIRE date!
 
Updated - moved myself from March to XX 2022, will be 53 this year, so still ahead of personal goal. Alot of company changes with departure package possibilities, so I'm going to wait and see.

I was most recently end of year 2021, but delayed due to a stock option/fine print issue that made it worth it to stay until end of March. However, I had let bosses know back in August, so it's made the wait even more torturous but we're getting there - 46 working days left!!

I know what you mean - I told my boss in September and even thought it wasn't that long until my FIRE date on Jan 21st - it felt like time slowed to a crawl...

9 more working days for me after today (including one more paid holiday on MLK Day!)

That’s my last 3 day week completed. 2 days/week now to end Feb on my descent to vocational freedom on 15 May, tho officially last working day is 6 May.

Replacement in place and handover in progress. I’ll let go the wheel end of January and be in a supporting role until mid-March.

I'm in, this time for real. I'll be walking away from 7 figure unvested stock account (gulp), but what the hell. All I'd have to do is work another 3.5 years past my retirement date and I'd keep all that. But I'm worth it. Plus, I have plenty already.

Hi Healthy - yep and Mondays a holiday so down to 4 working days! It's stressful training my replacement and trying to finish up...but just need to get to Friday and I'm done! I can't wait!
 
Hello fellow 2022ers. I can now add myself to this group! Exact date is still TBD. (Not sure how to link to my updated post in the “Hi, I am…” thread….) I will definitely be seeking moral support here — it will be weird to leave my employer where I’ve worked for 20+ years. Very excited to go try some new things at 50 while I have my health to do so!
