FIRE is looking better and better...

I've enjoyed his music for years. Don't care much for his over priced burger restaurants and have a feeling these communities are going to be more pricy than comparables to pay for his naming rights just like the restaurants.
Also, I Have a feeling living there would get old quick. That said, I'm still going to check one out when it opens.

I can't seem to get through the Facebook login to see the article. Is there any way to post it without requiring the Facebook credentials?

It's no joke. The legendary easygoer and soft rocker has partnered with Minto Communities, a housing and development firm based in Florida, to create a set of homes made for those of us aged "55 or better" and rigorously dedicated to doling out margaritas and chill vibes. The first one will open in Daytona, Florida, complete with beachfront access, live entertainment, lap pools, spas and more according to ABC News.

That relaxation won't come cheap, however. The 7,000 homes being built will reportedly cost $1 billion in total, with individual 2- and 3-bedroom homes in the community going for between "the very low $200,000s to $350,000.

Just Google Margaritaville retirement communities. I found multiple articles, but I'm too impatient to pick the right one (Rolling Stone, Forbes, AARP).

Jimmy Buffett performs in tropical attire or T-shirts, but he does not relax. His NW is estimated at $600 million. He sells ER, but he doesn't participate in it, LOL.

Yup, working hard at selling taking it easy. HA.

Prices seem high for Daytona so that'll keep out the riffraff. I'll bet the HOA fees will reflect that too.

Agree on almost all points. (I do like the restaurants more than most such chains.)

Hoping for some kind of cheap/free stay and check us out deals when they open.

We had one of his cheeseburger joints open a few miles from us, perhaps in 2008(?). It was wildly popular for a while. About six months later, it was boarded up. I'm guessing those $15 burgers lost some appeal when the economy cratered. It stayed empty for several years before a small but very popular existing Mexican restaurant moved into the (much) larger property. It's been going gangbusters there for over 3 years. We are regulars at the place (old and new).

Like CoolChange, might check out a promo stay, but no real interest in paying the JB premium.

$200 to $350K 2-3 BR homes.
7,000 homes with "oceanfront access"... Know what that means?

I'll be selling my 1200sf Florida Lake Griffin Harbor mfg home on 7 lakes with 50,000 acres of water, 212 miles of shoreline, and 53 boat slips for about $20K including the golf cart a 200cc Riva Scooter, and 2 bikes. :) 2 min walk to lake.

Where else can you go to catered party, with all the beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres you can drink or eat... plus a great Western Band, for $14/couple.

To each his own....

From the article,
Once Margaritaville opens up and you've got your spot, your literal job then becomes to kick back all day, every day and ask yourself -- with the studied conviction of a Buddhist monk -- "What would Jimmy Buffet Do?" Answer: Pour yourself something tall and strong.
Guess they aren't interested in people like us (Frank and me), who don't have any desire to ever drink and have numerous other interests to pursue in life.

Just as well; we're happy where we are. That community sounds tremendously boring and tedious to me.

Now there's a marketing phrase if ever there was one!

Jimmy is above all a capitalist. He's spent his life selling an impossible dream to millions of poor saps who have no hope of ever achieving it. Of course he knows this.

It looks like at least a fun place to visit. I don't know if it might be a little too much for me to want to live there. But I guess if there were like minded people and lots of activities to keep me busy it could be a lot of fun. I guess we'll have to check back after it's built and see how it came out.

Looked into that place once I believe.
The rules said my best friend is to large a breed[emoji20]

I don't own any hushpuppies but I'm still looking for my lost shaker of salt....

I'll pass on this. But I'll also pass on the recommendation for his new (on the way to) Broadway show - Escape to Margaritaville. Fun show - especially if you like his music.
