Greatest love songs ever

Thanks. I looked up Doug Church to see who that is. Interesting guy himself.

I ran across this Korean saxophonist on Youtube. The performance is well received worldwide, as evidenced by comments from viewers of different nationalities.

A bit of research found that the melody is that of a song entitled "If you come into my heart", and it is apparently a very popular song in Korea.

Not the greatest but Bohemian Rhapsody gave some exposure to 'Love of My Life'.

"If" by Bread. Or, any song by Bread.

"Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack

Lots of SuckFace to these songs

I liked the above tune enough to do a bit of search to find the above song with vocal singing and an accompanying English translation of the lyrics.

Stumbled on this last night while on youtube:

A splendid cover of an Alison Krauss song which was a cover of the original version by the late Keith Whitley.

^ Excellent!

I've long been a fan of the late Jesse Winchester -- his songwriting and his voice just strike a chord in me. This is a favorite tune.

That is one of the great ones, either Kris's studio version or by Sammi Smith. Her version was probably as close to erotica as one would find on the radio in the early 70's.

A few of my favorites, lifted from my playlist for the the Beautiful Princess :)

Vince Gill - Love's Standin'

Rita Coolidge - All Time High

Foreigner - Waiting for a Girl Like You
I think the acoustic/"unplugged" version treats the lyrics better than the original release

Speaking of Romeo:

Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes
Johnny Cash

Drink to me only with thine eyes
And I will pledge with mine.
Or leave a kiss within the cup
And I'll not ask for wine.
The thirst that from the soul doth rise
Doth ask a drink divine;
But might I of Jove's nectar sip,
I would not change for thine.
I sent thee late a rosy wreath,
Not so much hon'ring thee
As giving it a hope that there
It could not withered be;
But thou thereon did'st only breathe,
And sent'st it back to me,
Since when it grows and smells, I swear
Not of itself, but thee.
Drink to me only with thine eyes
And I will pledge with mine.
Or leave a kiss within the cup
And I'll not ask for wine.
The thirst that from the soul doth rise
Doth ask a drink divine;
But might I of Jove's nectar sip,
I would not change for thine.

Saw this guy in Vancouver circa 1995:

How could I have overlooked this one? One of the greatest songs ever:
