Well, the transfer of ownership of the Bears from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love seems to have gone without a hitch. ;)

.

i wonder if there is any capital gains considerations to be made. At least they will obviously be LONG TERM gains! :D

Please send your donations to the Friends of the Philadelphia Eagles Mental Health Club.

Contributions not used by the Friends for mental health will be sent to Dallas when hell freezes over.

Thank you for you consideration and pity.

There’s always next year…except for Jason Kelce.

Not an Eagles fan but feel sorry for Travis Kelce. Their decline has been painful to watch.
Yeah, poor Travis. No chance of his brother being in the Super Bowl again this year. But Travis is a long shot himself this year.
I can only hope! 6 wins in a row, 2 more to the Super Bowl.
Bills are on a roll.

Cowboys? Eagles? WTH, astonishing…

McCarthy deserves to survive, Siriani does not. YMMV

Wow, what a fall from grace for the Eagles. From defending NFC champ and 10-1 to start the 2023-2024 season to inept chumps. Horrible. Not sure they could have beat Michigan the last few weeks.

Love how the Ravens are flying below the radar (pun intended).

Even though I am a Texans fan (not by choice, but by location and some close friends), I believe the Ravens will be picking the meat off the Texan's bones this coming playoff game. :D

If you believe in history repeating itself, the last time Baltimore was a #1 seed (2019-2020) they lost, at home, in the divisional round.

Lamar Jackson is 1-3 in playoff appearances, and has not won a home playoff game.

Of course, as investors, we also know that past performance is not indicative of future results. :)

I'm not knowledgeable on the Raven's historical records (not a big NFL fan). I am just mentally preparing myself for the worst outcome!:D

We’ve definitely gotten spoiled these last few years. A road game for the division title instead of hosting the game. For a down year I’m not going to complain.

That said, anything is possible and the Allen/Mahomes rivalry will be fun to watch.

I wonder why they call them Divisional Playoff games. I'm not picking on your post, this is what they call this weekend at nfl.com. The Bills and Chiefs aren't in the same division. 7 of the 8 remaining teams happen to be regular season division champions, but the Packers aren't.

Anyway, that will be a fun game to watch.

I guess it’s actually the divisional round. How you get into that round is by winning the division in the wild card game? Playoffs have some convoluted situations, jargon, and stats but not as intricate as player contracts and the salary cap. Oh well, hoping for good games and no serious injuries for any of them.

If the Texans are to have any success they have to stop Jackson's run game.

He better put on his skates because Anderson and Greenard are coming after him.

It is all marketing :)

1st week - Super Wildcard Weekend - the wildcard teams get a chance to advance to the next round. Now called "Super" as there are six games instead of 4, and spread out over 3 days.

2nd week - Divisional Round - At least 1 division champion plays, the #1 seed. Note that, when they were six teams in the playoffs, the top 2 division champions had byes and would host this round of games, so the terminology it is something of a carryover. In theory, the division champions should all be here, But, On Any Giving Sunday... :) Any wild card teams good enough to beat a division champion qualify for the Divisional Round.

3rd week - Championship Sunday - the games determine the conference champions and Super Bowl opponents.

Remember, they paid folks big bucks to come up with this nomenclature....

Yeah, I was thinking about the carryover from the past after I posted. But you're even more right about marketing, it needs a catchy name, and that one was handy. Stealing "Elite 8" probably wasn't what they wanted to do.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the Lions chances this week - then who knows what could happen.

I'm not adopting "super" for wild card weekend.

It's best to feel that way about any team you're hoping wins.

My favorite two teams of the playoffs are facing off - Bills and Chiefs. So, I won't be too disappointed, either way.

Plus, that is an NCAA trademark. You'd be sure that (a) the NCAA would come after the NFL, and (b) the NFL would not want to pay a dime to NCAA for it:LOL:.

Quarterfinals, Semi-finals, and Final would be way too descriptive and boring.

Can’t believe I actually get to say this in any of them, Go Lions!!!

Well, given the NFL’s revenues, I’d say their marketing plan is working just fine!

Sorry about the Texans. DAMN the Ravens looked good (in the second half).

A little off topic:

Is it just me, or are the NFL games inundated with ads for gambling? It seems like every break has an ad for one of them (Fan Duel was the most recent)

Poor Pete Rose just was way ahead of his time:D

Yep. The Texans hung in the first half, but the Ravens eventually wore down their defense. That is what happens when your offense is not able to move the ball and have long drives. But, still a great season for the Texans.

The gambling sites are now in partnership with the NFL Once sports betting, particularly online sports betting became legalized, The NFL decided to go after this revenue stream to add to their income. Now you have shows dedicated to providing betting advice on the major sports networks.

Tony Romo was ahead of his time. Not that long ago he wanted to host a fantasy football convention in Las Vegas. The NFL shut it down, because the hotel had a casino, and, at the time, they did not want to give any appearance of betting. Now they have a team in Las Vegas, the Super Bowl will be in Las Vegas.. how times have changed. :)
