Sorry to say one of my memories of the area was the somewhat incredible flooding produced by the Missouri River in the late 1980's
Similar to my 1 experience in the area. In June 1984 I flew to KC to participate
in the Bike Across Kansas. I left my stuff at my friends parents house in NW
Kansas City. The ride was great, but halfway through the whole house
flooded to about floor+1 foot, leaving everything smelling of raw sewage.
