Thanks Ron and Walt. I probably will get it framed and give it to my MIL. DW says we're running out of wall space here.

Walt, Frayne, and Ron - your spider and crab shots are awesome. I may have asked this question before, but what lens do you use for your macros?

I was using my "all-purpose" walking-around lens -- a Tamron 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3; at 300mm, 1/500 sec at f/6.3 & ISO 250. It was, as usual, taken hand-held although I quite often have a monopod with me.

Thanks - I can see why that lens is your "all purpose" lens. Great range and crisp photos.

Same problem I have. Now if I want to put something up something else has to come down first. Says she "doesn't want to live in an art gallery".

The macro lens is a Nikon AF-S Micro NIKKOR 85mm 1:3.5G ED. It's DX lens for the D7000. I like it a lot.

Using a Canon 70D body and a Canon 100mm F 2.8 L IS USM lens for most of my macro stuff.

Last week we went to Great Sand Dunes NP and had a blast photographing the area. The weather was perfect -- not too hot and the creek was still flowing. Mosquitos hadn't come out yet.

We stayed in the Pinyon Flats campground using a little 2 man Moss tent. Boy did I have trailer envy. So many Casitas and Scamps. I also realized that my tiny MSR stove isn't really great for car camping. So on our purchase list is a bigger tent and a dual burner camp stove.

This picture is from the top of High Dune (about 700ft). It's at sunset just after a rainstorm. Hiking the dune was brutal -- I'm getting old now but the weight of my gear didn't help (I'm guessing my heavy duty tripod, ballhead, DSLR, 3 lenses weighed close to 20lbs).

I had posted this in a fall color thread and thought it should be here too. It was taken from the top of the Pembina Escarpment looking out over the Red River Valley of the north.

I got a lucky shot of some pelicans at the La Jolla cove area the other week.

My Guzzi

Just trying out the picture thing. I am using Photo Bucket here.

Playing around with GoPro stills. Both 2.77mm, ISO100, container shot at 1/380, coneflowers at 1/800. I only controlled the ISO. Used iPhone GoPro app for preview and remote shutter.

Lightroom would have done a better job, for instance, of bringing out the detail in the dark portions and probably a little with dampening the highlights. It, also, could use some sharpening.

Other than that... nice bike. <chuckle>
Thanks for your thoughts Ron. I am not sure what Lightroom is. That picture was took the day I bought the bike, with my phone, in their parking lot. Lol.

Just got back from a photo safari to Tanzania. I'm still going to through the photos, but so far this one is my favorite. This is all from the camera, no editing. Using a Nikon Coolpix P530.

Morning light is always great! This game drive began at 6 a.m. Serengeti National Park has miles of unpaved road for exploring the plain. Traffic is restricted to licensed tour companies, which keeps the traffic manageable, and generally, everyone stays on the trails.

These lions were in the grass about 7:30 a.m. This is the final of about 8 shots taken just before 8 a.m. Sunup is 6:15 a.m.

The lionesses and yearlings moved from the grass alongside the Land Cruisers and down the road to a dip in the road where runoff had collected. I took this shot from the Land Cruiser as we made our way on a new path to the left of the dip. We did not disturb the water they were drinking. They are used the vehicles and have no interest in the people in the vehicles. However, if you go outside the vehicles, the rules change!
