The Photographers' Corner - 2021 to ?

Very nice.

Thanks.

Very nice Ron. Throughout my career as a photographer I began to realize that two traits define good photographers; an eye for composition, and most importantly the ability to see and understand light, whether supplied by nature or produced by the photographer (in the studio, for instance). You do a great job at both.

You and I are also woodworkers. High quality woodworking and photography are similar in that they require mastering the technical skills first, and then those with good creativity will produce the best work.

Thanks. I agree with you that photography and woodworking are quite similar in the ways you describe. I don't know what it is, but it seems like the eye for lighting and composition gets better with experience without trying. And it seems like the best landscape photos take several trips before the conditions are right. At least for me. This barn is on my morning McDonalds trip route. I have many photos of it, but the light this morning was perfect.

The seconding with the colorful sky looks like it was shot on a different day.

The sunlight on the building seems different as well.

Sky replacement?

That lens sounds great, it's a Z-mount, not the F-mount with the FTZ adapter?

Still heavy to carry around?

trade secrets. ha ha .

it’s the older 70-200mm which i have to use with the FTZ adapter .

in camera i shoot very flat and boring …. then i decide what i want to do in processing.

by doing that i can capture a wider dynamic range that is cleaner for my processing

^^ I saw that cracked lens. I brightened up the headlight area on a few daylight color pics and it was really noticeable there too.

Just got back from Durango Co. Have 692 train pics to go through.

Nice picture. When you go back in time to take one of those photos does your camera automatically revert to B/W?

Is the middle guy looking at his pocket watch or cell phone?

Thanks - No the camera always shoots in color and I have to make it B&W. I wish it could recognize the scene and render it accordingly. Maybe AI will do it someday.

I think the 2 guys on the right were looking at pocket watches.

Beautiful photos from all of you. Picture perfect!!!

Drone shot of our RV encampment in Painted Canyon, Mecca, CA a couple weeks ago. AMAZING experience hiking the (challenging) slot canyon trail, almost 6 miles.
