What did you do today? 2018 version

I've been working on converting a chest freezer to a beer "keezer" to replace a crappy old refrigerator I've been using for over ten years. I bought it for $25 from a coworker who was renovating his kitchen. He had owned it for at least ten years so needless to say it was an energy hog.

Turns out the local power company pays $50 to take away your old refrigerator if it's at least ten years old. They came today and hauled it off. Ka-ching!

Hunted in the morning, set some beaver traps late morning. and hunted late afternoon and evening.

What with the ship and the hospital I've been poked and prodded so much that I anticipated being awarded "Best In Show".

:D:D:D

Can't wait to see that big blue ribbon!

We are waiting to see a photo of beaming Nemo in front of the Malaga hospital wearing a ribbon like this.

Years ago I was scheduled to be an expert witness on an eminent domain case. Luckily the case fizzled out.

But as luck would have it, I got a text saying that it is back on. I may have to go back to work for only a couple of days max (I hope).

This week (M-Th) I guided a bike trip along the D&L trail. The group stayed at a B&B in New Hope on Wednesday night. Thursday morning I had the key in my pocket so we wouldn’t have to disturb the innkeeper as we were going in and out to prepare for Thursday’s ride. Sure enough, when I was cleaning out my pockets on Thursday night, I found the B&B keys☹️

Luckily, our main house is only 15 miles from New Hope. So today I drove there to return the keys, then got groceries and ran errands in that part of the county. Now I’m settled in with some chai and my Kindle.

Gym day, then stopped one the way home and bought a gluten-free pizza with extra cheese, ham, bacon, onions, pepperoni, and green peppers. This will come in handy as tomorrow is forecast to be rainy all day and this will feed me for the next two days.

Arrived home, after two nights in Toronto with an old friend.......now we're faced with the documentation of expenditures for various claims, both medical and transportation related.

On the trip home DW and the cane helped us out yet again......as noted previously, if I'm holding the cane it's "Get out of the way, you silly old fool".....but the situation changes as soon as I hand it to DW so that I can manage both of our carry on bags.....first in Lisbon airport, she'd only held it for two seconds when a guy appears out of nowhere and escorts us to the front of the boarding line.

Then this morning at the Toronto train station.....within seconds she's offered advance boarding, (while I'm told that anyone accompanying her, i.e. me, can come with).

We're thinking of getting her her own cane.

Or just get a vest made for yourself that says "Emotional Support Husband".

Seriously, it's great that you're home again safe and sound. Take good care of yourself!

With those toppings even I would eat a gluten free pizza. :)

Glad you made in home :)

Got biopsy results of renal tumor removed earlier this month. Benign! There was an 80% chance it would be carcinoma, so I am feeling like a lottery winner.

You ARE a lottery winner!!

Relaxed listening to Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I’m still in recovery mode after having made a knee jerk trip funeral trip that wasn’t within our control. Emotionally ok, body just hasn’t caught up.

Very good news!

DH and his doctor had been watching a crusty, scaly spot on his arm. Dr finally referred him to a dermatologist who took a sample and told him it looked like a basal cell carcinoma. Nope, it’s just a crusty, scaly spot! He’s very relieved.

That is great news and very happy for you.

We went to a Barbary Coast circus / theater type event last night in a big top tent in downtown Oakland called the Soiled Dove. It was pretty fun - lots of performers including aerialists and a band called the Jazz Mafia. Afterwards we stopped at a club with dancing and a Prince tribute band.

Today's main event so far for us was a library book sale. I was proud of myself for only buying 3 books, and one of those was on decluttering. DH found some of the books he had been searching for at each $1 each so he was happy.

We went out for a Halloween event last night with a couple of pretty good local bands and a costume contest. People had some really amazing costumes. I thought the best was a guy dressed in an inflatable pickle costume.

I'm home using rollers and acupressure balls on a sore knee today while binge watching The Americans.

Preventative maintenance on my car. Oil change, transmission fluid change, air cleaner and cabin air filter replace, rotate the tires, inspect the brakes. Clean out and vacuum the inside and trunk. I'm about to roll 288k miles on the odometer, and regular maintenance is the key to that.

Made a hiking stick from a limb of a downed tree. Also sawed through my finger nail into my finger a little. Starting to wonder if we get clumsier as we age.

First day without A/C since April. Winter in Florida, high only 82.

..................................................................................

Met up with my buddy @6:30 AM which meant my 20 minute walk turned into 1+ miles.
Cleaned both cars
Received and sent in our vote by mail
Final test on the dishwasher... full load long wash... no leaks.
Agreed with jeanie to have our two local kids in for my soon birthday... favorite visit to local stir fry.
Took in the hummingbird feeders... they've left for Texas.
Watched news... MSNBC, FOX, CNN, and OAN...

Watched the salmon migrating up the local creek. There is a bridge over the creek which has a pool on the downstream side before a long rapid run. The salmon rest here before the next sprint or recover if they have failed to get up the rapids. Interesting to watch.
