Routine dental cleaning appts for DH and I this morning, then planted my flowers out front in the new containers I bought yesterday. Old ones broke, so kind of a mini BTD.

We both had our last dentist visits nearly a year ago, and elected to wait until we got vaccinated. Called the dentist this morning and was surprised to hear that the earliest appointments were in late October. Nothing urgent, so we're fine with waiting until then, but apparently everyone else did the same as we did.

Went out and sat down inside a restaurant! First time since March last year to sit indoors. How nice. I've picked up food there but not been past the front lobby in that time.

While we were waiting on our order our CPA called he got the changes for overpaid APTC and our taxes were done. We went to pick them up after lunch and saw the changes. We ended getting a 14.5k refund, mostly APTC!

Got a haircut, only my second professional cut of the pandemic. My daughter has done some trimming in-between, but has been hesitant to take off too much.

Trails are muddy after rain last night, so I went for a city walk of about 3 miles this afternoon.

new trolling motor

Finished installing/wiring my Minn Kota trolling motor; it's a GPS/smart trolling motor. Took it out on St. Johns River with the wind and current running. The i-spot/anchor lock worked really well, even with the chop. Taking the boat up the intercoastal to Pine Island and Guana tomorrow looking for reds, flounder and sea trout.

Wow, a 6-month wait list!

We also waited to be fully vaccinated before calling our dentist. No problem getting an appointment in less than 2 weeks.

I asked the receptionist if their business was back to normal. She said it had improved, but still far from pre-Covid level.

A light switch accessible from the bed (or a remote) is a good idea. I renovated our master bedroom last year and am sorry that I didn't wire for wall mounted lamps on both sides of the bed.

I have a room light switch that controls two wall mounted lamps on each side of the bed. I replaced the switch with a Meross smart switch. Now I just turn them on/off from the bed using my phone or iPad.

Yesterday was a fun day. I played golf in the morning. it was misty/slightly drizzling at times and the fairways were on the soft side from the recent rain, but it was warm and I had an enjoyable round walking the course with a couple of friends. The weather scared off the crowds so we practically had the course to ourselves.

Around 1:30 another couple called to see if DW and I wanted to go bowling later that afternoon, so we did. Bad first game but my last 3 were over 160 so that felt good. We finished up around 5, bought takeout from the bowling alley (they provide huge quantities of unhealthy food at a good price :) ), and took it home. There we found youngest DS in the house doing laundry. I ended up working with him on his bike and then ended up biking with him at a nearby park to test it out.

Then at 8:30 we joined a virtual surprise birthday party on Zoom for my youngest sister, who turned 55. BIL used some ruse to get here onto the zoom call to be greeted by family in the U.S. and overseas. It was supposed to be only for 30 minutes or so, but then we started sharing old photos, and the our kids, nieces, and nephews were fascinated at the pictures and the stories behind them. We did not end until almost 3 hours later.

DS finished his laundry and stayed to play a game of rummikub with us (DW won handily) before heading back to his apartment.

A full, enjoyable day. Today weather is cooler, so I will just lounge around doing as little as my conscience allows me to do :).

I went turkey hunting this morning but I don't rush to get there early. I only have a few miles to drive before I hunt them and only during the day hours and evenings, no getting there before sun rise for me. I hunt them most so I can be in the outdoors and enjoy the beauty. Home for awhile then will go back out turkey hunting about high noon.

Went to ranch yesterday and seen a few moose also.

We went to the brand new Asian supermarket that just opened about a mile away. We got some fresh Branzino fish, oysters and vegetables for dinner. The young wife got a jar of kimchi for a snack, and we got a few other odds and ends, like chopsticks. I did not recognize many of the things on the shelves, but I look forward to learning more about them. We both love to try new food, so I expect we'll be going back regularly.

^ RobbieB, will be ovah for dinner! Lol!!!

Sounds like a great day.

Dental cleaning and x-rays found a new problem:(; abscess above my left front tooth. That tooth, and its neighbor, were damaged in a car accident decades ago (along with a bunch of bones). I thought both front teeth were "dead" (no roots) and one has a post/cap, and the other a glued on crown.

Well, I was wrong as the one with the abscess has a root and the crown. I go to the specialist Monday for an evaluation.

Just what I need, more money spent on dental work after I already have enough spent in there in the last 4 years to cover a new pickup truck.

OUCH. I am due to spend 9-10k on a few implants and a crown myself.
My dental costs have been far exceeding my health care costs lately.:(

Plenty of people would consider that a good thing! :D

Honestly, I'm just so thrilled to have a good working mouthful of teeth at my age that the cost of dental work doesn't bother me a bit.

Touche'. My teeth are pretty good and my overall health is excellent. Guess I shouldn't complain.

We went out for lunch indoors! Second restaurant in two days. Mexican yesterday, Chinese today. The Mexican place has been open for indoor dining as long as they've been able to, we haven't been at indoor dining in over a year. The Chinese place only opened their dining room last week, they were takeout only for the last year. The one waitress said it was difficult to get back into the swing of things. Think that's a setup for spilling soup.

In this country restaurants have been at 50% capacity for a while, starting today they can open to the extent they can keep 6' between parties. Masks are required for entry, exit. They weren't close to 50% full but we went early. Went for a walk while we were where there's sidewalks. It's much easier to walk faster and we were enjoying the views of the snow covered peaks with bright sun vs. dark shadows. Normally we have that view when we were at the rec center on the treadmill. Haven't been there since December 2019, DW and I disagree about when we're going back.

My parents and at least 1/2 their friends had at least one denture by the time they hit the mid 60's. So far all of my teeth still work. :D

I covered the wings, ailerons and fuselage of the J-3 Cub with the plastic film covering today, just the tail feathers remain to do. They give you a generous amount of covering material so I'll have plenty left over. Unfortunately I was on such a roll with the covering that I forgot I still have to build a box for the battery to reside in before covering the fuselage. I can still do it now, but it'll be more difficult now that I only have access from the front.

I'm debating whether to use the decals that came with the kit, which are okay, or having a shop do a set of N-numbers of the registration of the J-3 that I soloed in.

BIL's father just hit hospice and isn't expected to make it through the weekend so my sister dropped off her 2 dogs today. The puppy is a black mouth cur -- and just wow. So much more energy than my Cocapoo ever had. Plus a ball their. Poor Koda doesn't know what hit him. They'll be here for a week

Pharmacy run, got more plywood and takeout Gyros for lunch. More cutting, clamping and gluing. Dog walking and drinking of whisky followed by burgers on the barbee.

Spent part of the morning getting X-rays of my lower back and right hip. I could barely walk in January but opted to wait to see the doctor and get X-rayed until after I was vaccinated. Much better now, so I suspect it was probably a pinched nerve or something I did while sitting in my home office chair while working. I will see what the doctor says on Tuesday, but I suspect she will tell me to keep walking everyday. After that I spent some time with DF getting his efile tax return authorization and power of attorney signed. We need to follow-up with Fidelity and his accountant next week since I question his reported IRA withdrawal.

Painted the door of the pull-down attic stairs in our hallway. Seems possible that they were painted when the house was built about 50 years ago and never again.

I used some gloss paint I already had, but may go back for a second coat with lower gloss.

I was persistent with turkey hunting today and I harvested a great gobbler early evening. Was an exciting day to be part of nature and all the sounds, smells and wildlife activity.
